Hi All
I am going full deck grip on the starby pro. In the past I have used wax over the top of the Startouch.
To ensure the best stick possible of the new grip I want to get as much of the wax out of the startouch first.
I was planning to scrap the old wax off. Wash the board with a light soap mixture and scourer. Then scourer again using windex.
Any my other good tips? I don't want the new grip coming off after a few good wipeouts.
Thanks
Dave
This is what I have done and works a treat.
After scraping off as much wax as possible place a good amount of bi-carb in a stocking ( around a tennis ball amount) now just rub of wax (best done out off heat). Occasionally rotate or give the stocking a flick to dislodge the wax gathered. Works great and a good workout as well
Hi Davio I usually scrape of as much wax as possible then pour boiling water over it, then give another good scrape, then hit it with solvent or acetone, then to make sure I always Mark out were the grip is going to go and sand the start ouch off, guaranteed max adhesion.
cheers

Ya gotta love the old school methods!!
Wax and grease remover is best. Use a light scorer with it after you have scraped all wax off. Then move to lint free cloth with wax and grease remover as the startouch grips fine material.
Try on a small patch first as like all things first. I done this to my WP prior to sticking down the FO deck pads. Ensure that where the edges of the deck pad goes is clean as this is the first place it will lift. Good luck. Been there done that.
What about an angle grinder or if you're worried about scratching put a wire wheel on a drill that should work![]()
All wrong, just use a hair dryer and a towel. Heat it up, place the towel over it, heat some more and peel off, keep doing that until it's all gone.
Kid's stuff.
I scrape as much off as possible, then use turps to remove the residue and then metho to remove the oily film turps leaves. Works a treat and super easy with bugger all rubbing. Comes up like new.
Hi Dave I used acetone and it removed the wax and the startouch
I was just stuffing up a board tidy up, but it might be good preparation for applying eva grip.
