Is anyone painting their boards AFTER glassing with regular spray paint in a rattle can, like Rustoleum or Krylon, for example? Does it hold up or tend to slough off after a while?

Thanks

Don't know.....my most recent second hand starboard was looking shabby......sanded it back with fine wet and dry.......then sprayed with Bunnings acrylic rattle and spray paint.....followed up with acrylic clear lacquer over the top.
Looked surprisingly good and quite durable (this was 5 or 6 months ago)

Very durable (I use it over ding repairs), but be sure to protect with clear UV resistant varnish (I use 2 or 3 thin layers), otherwise it will fade.

Thanks for replying guys. Do you think I'd be crazy to paint a NEW board that I'm making myself with rattle can spray paint?

And colas, since you make your own boards, how do you put a logo on a new board you built yourself that you painted after the glass job?

No, I don't make my own boards... Well actually, I tried to make them as a teenager.... let's say that I gained a lot of respect for shapers and glassers :-)

I would just put the logo as a sticker or paint, and cover with a protective layer, either a resin hot coat or clear varnish.

Some friends write their logos with posca markers, and cover with varnish:

If you google "surfboard posca" you can see many examples such as:

I have been using auto touch up acrylic. Hundreds of colours and it seems to last well if you use clear over the top.

The posca pen looks amazing, but beyond my limited ability
