A big thanks to Travis from OAM for hooking me up with some sweet deckpads for some of my Sunova's...they're looking sharper than ever & the OAM pads are the shnizz...super grippy / robust & lightweight + it helps that they don't retain water when your arms are cooked after a big session
Not too bad getting the actual pads off but removing all the glue to show case that magic balsa was hard graft!
Fair point Frothn but they are +10 year boards (most of them already +3 years) so the investment is well worth it if you hang onto them...still way cheaper vs 1 bad board decision....& I've had a few of those
Yeh for sure would grab one if they are cheaper as I need a new one haha. Not sure how people sup on small wax it's beyond me just not enough grip. Mmmm
Hi Bob...good guess....2/4 excluding the 9'1 LB. Let me know when you're ready for the reveal
Sweet looking stick Rossall...the colour combo of that OAM pad is the perfect choice
From left to right:
- 8'1 Acid which was 1 of my 1st Sunova's i.e. this board holds a special place in my quiver & works a treat in punchy beach-breaks
- custom 8'6 x 97L Insane with stepped rails which goes unreal in bigger/clean conditions (IMO, the stepped rails do make the stability a bit more twitchy)
- 8'11 Insane which offers more stability for those less than perfect bigger days (I added a carbon patch to the deck so there's some weight which isn't a biggie for a big wave board)
- custom 9'8 x 120L Insane which is a beast in terms of paddle speed for bigger conditions (I generally wear a waist leash because it's a lot of board which otherwise rag-dolls me....I can see why Zeusman opted for his sweet 11'11 custom cause there's a lot to be said about a bit of waterline / narrow width + a pin tail )
- custom 9'1 x 97L progressive LB which handles anything except a stiff off-shore (my back-up is a 10' x 27" New Deal & then a have a dedicated 9'6 log for nose-riding)
Bottom line, foiling has made a few of my shorter/performance boards redundant but thankfully not my LB's + big wave boards
