I managed to get a new 8'0" Hokua LE from the latest Naish container which is just in the country, after surfing the 8'3", 7'6" and the 2013 7'3" Hokuas, this one is THE best yet! After two great surfs on this board I can safely say the surfboards will not be getting much use anymore! Naish has got their Hokua series so dialed in and with the way that Kai has been riding I can only see these beard getting even better, if that is even possible? yew so stoked!!

Welcome to the club... the Hokua 8"0 and the other board in the Hokua range are so good, the rails are like a surfboard...

Enjoy

I am considering one of those as well and was wondering how they compare to last years model.

Has anyone got any experience riding the GT one and the LE one? I guess the LE being lighter certainly makes for a better board to surf but is it worth the extra wait and money... wonder how that carbon affects durability as well...

Is there any difference between the 2012 and 2013 model? An image search on hokua 2012 and hokua 2013 seems to return the same board. 2011 definitely looks different but not the two following years.

Any idea what year that board on the photo would be?

Hi Jay,

I have ridden the 8"0 Hokua for a few years now, and also rode the previous model. The new board is much more responsive and enables you to hit the lip and come down easily. The heavier 2012 board was a good shape, but got caught more due to the weight and wasn't as lively.

So I would definately grab the later one - the construction of the version 2 of the later shape is much stronger so nothing to worry about there.

The new 8"0 is by far the best board I have ridden. ENJOY

What is the deal with the deck pads on the 2012 boards? They seem to be defective. Does loosing the top layer effect traction?

I have a 2011 hokua 9' and have been losing quite a few of the diamonds on the deck pad too. Didn't seem to affect traction much though.

So what is the version 2, is it the 2012 model or the 2013?
