Hello all, I currently own a BIC fibreglass paddle and am looking to upgrade. I've been looking at all the paddles everyone has been discussing on here. Quite a selection lol. So I've been thinking about the Fanatic Carbon variety, or even a Trident. Has anyone tried a trident? The QB look good as do the Naish. Like a kid in an expensive candy store haha. I'm 6'1, 70kgs wet. I have a 10'6 Nalu and mainly use it in the surf. Figured I'm missing the good waves because of my paddle. Couldn't possibly be my technique lol ![]()
I've two Fanatic paddles - one full carbon, the other Innegra carbon. I'd recommend the Innegra carbon for the surf any time. Light, tough and marginally heavier than the full carbon one.
Ke Nalu. Look no further.
Modular - can configure paddle however you want it with blade/shaft/handle options and if you bust a component, easily replaced under the 'forever paddle' deal.
I just bought a Ke Nalu (Maliko). I'm so impressed with it I'm about to get a Kohini as well. They are truly amazing pieces of work. The exit part of the stroke alone (noiseless and splashless) makes them worth it. Best of all I can paddle 10klms 2 days in a row and not feel a thing. How it combats muscle fatigue like that is beyond me.
Fanatic Carbon or Carbon Innegra both a good choice or you can look at the new Carbon Black Project Epic Pro which we Distribute...
I have had a couple of trident paddles and liked them both - I ended up putting a very stiff shaft in one and really like it.

I swore by my Ke Nalu Xtuff with the mid sized blade. Well at least till the blade failed just out of warranty. Instead of honouring the "Forever Paddle Policy" all I got was hassled by a distributor on this forum.
Disgusting customer service and standover tactics. The most disappointing part, other than the paddle having issues with leaking, was that I really do like the strength and controlled flex of the Xtuff shaft. ![]()
Mate you are like a broken record. If you are not bagging out the local lifeguards or the local SUP club, you're endlessly bagging product. Stoked you've moved to Austria.
can i come in here?
where to go for a ke nalu or qb paddle in melb?
how to "fly" with a (fixed) carbon paddle? can i take it with me onto plane?
relocating - & waiting for container to arrive is longer than i want to be off the water!

So what was I saying about standover tactics? Typical school yard bully rumour mongering from someone at the other end of the coast and most probably a friend of the mentioned distributor. I.E., one of the "Boys".
For starters, feel free to read the thread about the paddle. Also note, in the above post I acknowledge the pros of the paddle. Again, the issues are the bullying responses and outright refusal to honour the "Paddle Forever Policy".
I also note, I am still surfing using the self repaired blade. Nice one!

Hey mate - you can buy Ke Nalu from the Aussie distributor direct, online (can't advise re QB).
Re flying, Qantas let you carry most sports equipment for free.....guidelines are on their site. Beauty with the Ke Nalu is that you can dis-assemble it for travel......(all you need is a hair dryer at both ends!

You're still banging on about this.
I can't understand why you feel you were refused the forever paddle policy.
It was offered to you numerous times.
We won't be chasing you though mate.....all you've got to do is shoot us an email asking for a replacement.....without any additional bull...t, we'll email you back an invoice and once paid you'll have it within a few days.
Too easy!!
I break everything Ive ever owned including a few Kenalu paddles
Shafts and blades !
Been replaced every time without issue
Cant be happier with the product and back up service
Cant keep everyone happy
I would hang by my Kialoa out of the top floor window of the Rialto building here in Melbourne because I trust it so much not to break.. ![]()
Well worth the little extra cost for that peace of mind.. ![]()
why don't you try a BIC full carbon Paddle they have one in a 90 blade lite and strong and cheaper than the others
Hi portstretch,
We sell Fanatic, QB, Naish and KeNalu.
I have been using the very same 100% carbon Paddle Pro Fanatic since it first came out in 2014. No damage, no breaks or hassles. IMO, the best value paddle for the performance it delivers. I use the 7.25" and rarely sell the larger 8".
The new 2016 paddles are almost here and are even better in terms of weight and strength and also stiffness, but, whilst my old girl hasn't let me down, I don't see the point in upgrading til she breaks. It may be a while ....
QB Kanaha is still very good value and possibly the toughest paddles on the market. Go with the 90 sq in. The Trifecta and V-Drive are incredible, but with the current AUD, they're prohibitively expensive.
The Naish Race LE is a nice paddle, but I can't get my head around the RDS shaft. The KeNalu are a nice paddle but like the QB Trifecta and V-Drive the 100% stiff carbon shafts are very stiff.
These comments are very subjective so take them with a grain of salt. I race, surf and downwind and am 93 kilo's

Thankyou,
While you have not to date offered to resolve the matter, If I had at least a past response like this I would have been a happy customer .
Honestly, the thing that has annoyed me most is that I really enjoy using this paddle. Despite the issues with the "Forever Paddle Policy", I have had nothing but praise for the way the paddle performs surfing. The recoil in the stiffer version Xtuff shafts is a lot more lively than a stiff pure carbon one. If you let it work for you, the liveliness can transfer into your surfing.
At the end of the day, I am more than happy to accept I might have been unlucky enough to get the one blade in a production run that was not sealed thoroughly.
I am also more than impressed with how the shaft has survived my aggressive paddle style. Ooops, am I saying more nice things about it?
Noting the "no chasing you policy", if I don't respond quickly it is more to the fact that I am happy enough this moment to have gotten a positive response. It was that simple.

Will happily fly down and film that !
Cant offer you any dollars as an incintive however
Also happy to tie your knots for you unless you plan on jamming the blade in a window frame and hang by the shaft ??![]()
I've ended up going with a Ke Nalu xtuf maliko. I liked the forever policy and from what I've read from all your reviews, it seems like a high quality product. ![]()
