After having a demo of the jp slate and loving it. Am keen to get a little 7'6 for the quiver. Unfortunately the minister of war and finances dropped the big NO on the jp. Did get the ok on minion though. Anyone got thoughts on the lwci construction or should i go the stronger vacuum bag option. Love the idea of the lighter one as long as it holds up to my 85 kg stomping around on it

Hi
I have a 8.0 minion and its the lighter construction. I'm 6'2 and weight in at 103kgs. I haven't put depressions in it.
The board is great and the construction will hold you no problems.
Great board, supper fast and well built Australian made board. Simon is a great guy and will point you in the right direction. He is making me another board at the moment and they are at the right price. You will love it. Enjoy

I'm 100 and got the Vac'd deck. It's been used and abused, travelled overseas, taken that many floggings by not only the paddle, but limbs and ribs (I broke ) but others boards as well and not a scratch. I'd like to see a JP do that!! No depressions either.

I have a 7"8 Minion. Beautiful board...excellent construction and craftmanship..you wont be disappointed. Mine is the lighter version i think...very strong and robust..no problems at all. talk to Simon or Casso on here..they were a big help on making my decision on specs for my board.

I have the 7'10" vacuum-bagged version. It is built like a brick s##t-house. There are times when I don't like the extra weight, but on some waves I feel the weight provides extra momentum. If I had my time again I would take a close look at the lighter version even though the vacuum-bagged version was highly recommended at the time.

Thanks for all the feedback guy's. Ended up getting an increadible deal on a 7'6 slate thanks to the crew at my local surf shop in southport ( sorry not sure if i can drop the name on here). Its one sick looking board love the matte finish of the composite. Cant wait to give it a surf.

I hope you actually surfed a Minion first before you purchased another brand?

No unfortunately i didn't take the minion for a spin. Am super stoked with slate though. I think one of the biggest selling points aside from the board was that i was supporting my local surf shop they give me great deals usually get a cheap fin upgrade and they sponsor the local supjam comp with great prizes every month. A deep is still on my bucket list probably a jackson close model now the short sups covered

Specifically what is it about the light weight Minion that makes it so much lighter than the regular Minion?

I've got a LWCI construction deep SUP. 8'11" and I weigh in at 87kg. I've had the board for just over two years now. There are a few heel indentations where I stand but that has happened on every board I've owned so not too unusual

I've been knocked about a fair bit on it and was smashed by an overhead wave into a sandbank.I was convinced the board would be in two pieces when I came up, but it didn't have a scratch on it. It was only my tibial plateau that snapped that particular day.

I'd say it's the strongest, lightest board I've owned and I've had quite a few. Hope this helps.
