Thanks Colas

I enjoyed the video and music.......stylish skilled surfing! Interesting that these longboard sups from Gong are about 9 feet in length. Can you give the complete dimensions? Most of the long board offerings from other companies are in the 9.5-10.5 foot range. For lighter riders that could be a bit of a handful.

Cheers

Hi, you have the full dims on the Gong shop site (one foot off etc...) www.gong-galaxy.com/categorie-produit/sup-fr/sup-noseriders-fr/

Currently are listed only the zero, but not teh Soul, Moblog, Pampa, Neverstick... But by googling their name + gongsup you will find their web pages with all their specs.

Note that there are not a lot of models currently, as the noseriders new shapes are being designed. Discussions of all the shapes happen in www.gongsup.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=67

In Europe boards 10'+ do not sell well. Above 9'4", boards do not fit inside vans or cars, so Gong design now mostly longSUPs under 9'4". I had a nice 9'6" but I had to sell it when changing vans, I could only fit a 9'4".

Wish we could get these Gong longboards in Oz.

Cheapest freight cost i've found from France to Melb is $1200 so far...

Frankly, you have so many talented shapers in OZ that you should be able to find quality local boards...

nice one colas , so they really are short boards ,but longboard shape ,they have nice flow on the small wave ...

interesting .what volume ...130 -140 ?

yes to longboard column .but then again why not just a SUP surfing one,

general, foiling, gear talk review , and sup surfing . and maybe a 14's section ,

So is it a competition to have the most sections possible?? Dilutes the conversation IMHO. Makes the forums look dead.

Fair point.

However - Custom with PVC wrap is rare - and if it is available - expensive. Most local shaped custom boards use a basic glass job.

Gong sups are half the price of the bigger brands and are more progressive than the cheaper main stream brands here.

There are usually many sizes and width, between 100 and 140 liters, and 25" to 32".

In the Video, Patrice at 86kg is on the Zero 9'0" x 29.5" x 115 liters.

I don't understand the concept of longboard stand up paddle. The waves are so small why the need for a paddle. These guys would be excellent on a prone longboards.

Because its the point...! I use 60% of the time sup longboard..9.5 to 19...sunova or smik or fanatic....you can paddle miles at sea..use any riddle in the sea...and even surf quite big waves for a 10'....its so much fun! The only limit of longboard sup are beach break as they can really brake your board in two in no time and hollow waves as you will be able to surf it but mostly trying to escape rather than surf the wave....

Coming back on the van issue with colas not being able to carry a 10 sup longboard..i have a prado 120 and can fit without issue a 10' board on the passenger side by retracting the front passager seat and the back seats...was also ok with my old toyota 80....basically most of the big 4x4 can easily take a 10' board inside

I usually surf with very low volume SUPs (my board is the Infinity Blurr 7'8 x 25.5 with 79 liters) but when I get my hands on a good longSUP I can't say no. Here's a video I did in the beginning of the year on the Infinity New Deal 10'0 x 29

One of the best performance longboard SUP on the market...but a performance sup not an old school old nose riding sup longboard ...it all depend what you are looking for i guess...lets not forget what is a longboard sup about....glide...glide...glide...

But they are excellent on prone longboards. Patrice was a longboard (and Windsurfing) contestant. They just decide to surf, SUP, foil, kite, wing, depending on the mood and conditions. So if they have a paddle in hand, it is because they have more fun this way this day.

In regards to beach breaks I totally agree- I have broken 2 x 10ft boards in big swells, one at a beach break and one at a reef break - both boards were very well made and it was totally human error putting the board in the wrong place at the wrong time!

I just love the glide and trim of a 10fter, not interested in what label gets attributed to how you ride them, i just find them fun and its totally horses for courses. I am not very good at nose riding but finding trim and gliding gives me so much joy on tiny waves.

Great addition to the forum Colas, love these videos - the best surfer is the bloke having the most fun and the Gong crew and blokes on the other vids look like they are the best surfers based on that.

Here is my contribution of the man 'Blurr'

Great post! This video inspired me to get a longboard-ish shape (sunova sneeze). Couldn't fit over a 9' in my apt, so I bought the 8'10".
