Losing a race to one of the kids like Connor would put a serious dent in the "Laird brand" so I don't see him racing anytime soon. Everything to lose, nothing to gain.
Physically these days, you can see in him the inevitable effects of the ageing process. He's a freak, no doubt. But even freaks get old. The weight of the cult that surrounds this guy actually has me feeling a bit sorry for him. Everyone is always expecting him to be doing something more than anyone else. He's made a lot of money out of it, for sure, but for how much longer is it realistic to maintain this god-like myth? We all have off days, and we all get older. Inevitably the guys who have grown up with SUP will overtake those who invented it; that's just the sign of progress. Best of luck to him though. Has anyone here actually done a downwinder with him? It must be tough for him to find training partners.
