There is a reason shift work is worth doing sometimes.
quiet night in the office and the ISA live cast for the Tech finals is on yeww..
Hopefully our prone peeps Jordy and Rhys take gold first up and then our SUP nuts Terrene, Toby, Beau go just as good.
Jamie Mitchell on live comentry - It doesn't get much better.

Connor takes gold.. perfect BOP conditons. few rolling waves to keep it very interesting..
All complained about the heat I wonder how hot it really was there..
The US beat Australia in, I think, 10 out of the 15 possible scoring opportunities. If the US continues to field a full team at this event, do you think Australia will ever regain the gold overall, or is this the way it is going to be from now on? In terms of how close the points were, your blushes seemed to be largely spared by one person (Jordan Mercer).

Nah we will smash them like guitars.![]()
As an Australian id only be worried if the Uk started to beat us. Some 300 million people in the USA and about 1/10th that here. Plus it seems these events will always be furthest from Aus/NZ so that always thins the field for competitors going.

Unless most of the Australian team gets stuck in a foreign country on the way over in an air travel SNAFU, the UK are never gonna be a threat to you. We don't have a tradition of ocean sports so there has been no pre-existing local club infrastructure to build upon, plus it is very cold, windy and wet here for half the year which makes training very hard, and we just do not have a "sports culture" in this country like you do, so we have very few full-time athletes -and none in SUP. Basically, our team are a bunch of amateurs with day jobs who receive little or no financial support, and mostly train alone in largely miserable conditions. Plus, we couldn't field a full team. It's amazing that they came mid-table really.
But in the UK we love to root for the underdog, and since it looks like you've just become that, we will now be cheering for you almost as much as our own paddlers.
It's a shame that Annabel Anderson wasn't there to give Candice something to think about. Although the NZ team did amazingly well considering the size of the population. And would Travis Grant now paddle for you or Hawaii?
You weren't much in front of Hawaii. So maybe next year you will be third? Hawaii have a lot of youngsters up-and-coming, and for their first appearance at this event it was a great effort.
I think it's great to see the USA finally put in a full strength team and they did really well. Lucky for us they let Hawaii have their own team and didn't join forces. They have raised the bar which will benefit us all by giving the event and sport more exposure.
Don't ever write off the Aussies all they have done is poked the tiger , we will be back next year with vengeance. With the extra coverage and exposure sponsors may now dig a little deeper for our competitors bring on 2016.
In reality Hawaii should win. Connor, kai etc should be the team to beat. The Travis argument is moot since he didnt compete. And that would also be like saying what about this or that person that could have gone for Aus . But simply look at the best pro racers and surfers winning comps and you cant really go past kai, Connor and Candice.

Surely Annabel is still top dog in women's racing, overall? And Danny Ching isn't exactly chopped liver. He just beat Connor, after all. And Candice is US not Hawaii. So I'm not sure that Hawaii will have it all it's own way. But it does seem possible -perhaps even likely - that they will bear Australia next time. It will depend on their prone paddleboard racers I imagine.
Mexico was the big surprise of the event for me, given especially since virtually the whole team came from that one town. That's one super-talented town they've got there.
They have to either remove prone paddle boarding from this event or severely limit the damage by reducing the points that the prone competitors contribute to the overall score. It's nice that the Australians did so well on the teams table, but let's be honest, it was all thanks to Jordan Mercer on a prone board. I've said it before and I'll say it again - may as well add beach frisbee.
i think the prone part is important. Our two sports are very similar. Prone has a rich history. I'm sure over coming years the US and Hawaii will field some gun prone paddlers. But the points system should just be equal for that and sup.
Prone is Not as exciting to watch but I don't find sup races besides BOP that exciting either. Highlight packages are great as they are backed with music. And Chris Packers running writen commentary of races is great to follow as he writes well but watching 50 guys in a single file train for more than 15 mins gets pretty boring
Anyone know where 2016 ISA TITLES is being held? South America again???
Send it to Hawaii or Australia I say but I'm sure the ISA PRESIDENT Wouldn't get the government funding like he does in those South American governments else where.
I'm sure Kai will want to be part of it next year and hopefully now the profile is raising all the guns will fight to be on their countries teams

Andy we won't see it neither will the USA , it will always be held in developing countries to promote the sport.![]()
Unless Clive palmer jumps on a sup doesn't sink it and likes the sport then it will be on the GC in 2017 but somehow I think he would sink the Sup and loose interest before we could get him to sign over a few million for the sport
The placement og the next worldchampionships is crucial.
The ISA needs to take it to the big Stage. A lot of european countries are stille in the SUP-developing stage.
I really like the current setup with both prone and SUP and I think that the event should be able to draw attention from some of the bigger sponsors if it was held at at at well know location

Agree annabel is top dog on the flat for women. The kiwis have a strong team with good prone paddlers, DK in the Surf and a really promising young paddler Armie Armstrong. Exciting times for the kiwis looking forward.

RIGHT!
Just like holding the FIFA World Cup in Qatar is to promote the sport. ![]()
I've heard Kai wont compete at ISA unless he can participate in all 3 events, surfing, short course and marathon. Due to ISA rules this is not allowed so one thing or the other will have to give before Kai is there.
There was talk last year about South Africa holding it, but speaking to the South Africans getting the money together was just never going to happen.
Thats nonsense .
Our danish viking Casper Steinfath competed in tech, Long distance and surfing.
Thats for the teams to decide

Sounds like a face-saving excuse to me. He knows his team-mate Connor can beat him in the distance and technical, and if he got his butt kicked twice in one event by him it might not do his image any good. But you'd have thought that since every other board at the ISA this year was a SIC, with Starboards etc also in evidence but Javelins were relatively few, that Naish would be keen to get Kai there next year. In terms of brand wars, SIC and Quickblade won it, to my untrained eye. They were everywhere.
Many competitors competed in 3 events -with the smaller teams there wasn't much option: you had to pitch in and do whatever you could to get some team points.
I'm not so sure about Connor kicking Kai's butt, since it looked to me that on the tech race, Mo Freitas simply let him have the win. In more than one occasion it was clear that it would always be Connor wining.
Just saying...
I'm not sure that we will see Kai do much racing in the future...
Very excited for the Mexican squad
Any news on when they will release here the next world championships are held?

Maybe something like this could spice up the long course race a bit? www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=849732205082579&set=a.192068730848933.61705.100001374216599&type=1&theater¬if_t=like
Jacko. I sure do agree with you. Your innovating ideas are what the sport needs to make it interesting for the racers and hopefully better for the views.
I reckon one day one of these ideas you are coming up with will take off be picked up by an event and could easily become the next main standard in racing courses..
if only you could tell this rediclous Qld/aus surfing and if they actually did listen to you (as they don't listen to anyone else) that going to easy simple boring option at state and Nationals isn't working and they need to adopt a better idea for races.. Whoops that's for another thread in Coming weeks when they release what they are going to do ![]()
