Your right Hilly ..as soon as I tried to remove the fin it broke off ,no wonder I've got a limp on .

on the drying rack for a few days before I repair .acid out of action .
only had those fins for 2 months

tomorrow it s the 8.7 flow ,round 2 .4 fins on that one .softer landing .

It would be interesting to see how they would have done stitches to your butthole if it had cut you. They would have had to turn you inside out.

Duct tape mate, it'll buff out.
Go assy twinny and carry on

However, I got "attacked" by my Flow rear fin in the winter. Shore break bail out and the backwash caught the Board which then decided to want to attack me fin first...
My arse too the brunt, after ripping a large hole in my winter wetty... glad I was wearing it TBH because I had two stiches in my butt, and about 25 in the wetty.

Fins... nasty buggers when they're in a temper

yep ,it could of been worse for sure ,luckily i have others to ride ..i wish it was as simple as duct tape

its better than breaking it in half ,like modern surfboards do .my surfing buddies are alway breaking them in half .

New meaning to "broke arse surfbum"

Here's a good way to appreciate what happened.....
If it was a Future's or FCS-2 box, you probably would have a broke arse, instead of the board.

Good bit of luck that you skewered the bumper instead of the beans.

Wave location, conditions, it could have been on the first or second wave. I woulD try and send those fins back, they should be butt proof.

You may need to open up the wound to dry it out.
Maybe cut 2-3mm either side of the torn glass with a stanley knife.
The moisture may still be trapped under the skin and soaked into the balsa / pine.
Metho is good to soak up / leech out the salt, and won't stain the timber when it dries.

The metho is going to sting. Make sure you clean the stanley knife before you cut into your butt.

did similar on my board a couple of years ago except my arse approached the fins from the back of the board. Took out both fins on that side (quad) and puncture my wettie in two places along with my arse... No serious damage to either board or me so all good.

When it happened I thought "That's a little painful..." but didn't think anything of it. Next wave when I tried to cutback the board slid out from under me. That's when I noticed the fins missing.

Went back to the car and got a new set of fins and continued surfing (it happened on my second wave...). Didn't notice the damage to me or the wettie until then end of a 2 hour session and noticed the blood on my towel.

An inch to the left and it would have been a different story...
