I am looking at a 9'10" 30" wide or a 10'10" 32" wide. I have ridden my friends 9'6" 32" a couple times. Which one would be better. I will be doing flat water and a little surf in 2-5 ft swells. It has a 1.5" rocker would that be good?
I have a Naish Hokua that has quite a lot of rocker. It has helped me survive late drops, but when you are just cruising along on a wave, it creates a plow effect - pushes water in front - and thus slows you down.
On the other hand I have a Sunova Speeed that has less rocker, and you can feel the difference. (The Speeed also has much different shape - more parallel rails - so that affects its speed too.)
At 80 kg, and a plan to go flat water paddling, I would aim for less rocker.
But there are people with more experience/knowledge than I have on this forum.
Starboard Element seems to fit the bill
amongst other boards I ride the Element a lot on flat and in the waves.Stable forgiving and quick![]()
