I have a 9' Fanatic Allwave and it came with 3 pretty cheap small fins. The board seems a little bit squirrelly when moving off from a slow pace. I am reasonably new to the sport and riding swell up to about 1.5 metres so far, despite my lack of experience the setup does not quite feel right. Any suggestions as to a suitable fin setup/upgrade would be appreciated.
Hi mate,
The Allwave is quite a curvy outline with some rocker, so it will be pretty loose. Which is not a bad thing.
Is the board a PURE LIGHT or LTD?
(LTD is 5 fin and quads may help the looseness)
Either way try some getting hold of a bigger sized fin in back.
Running smaller in the back then the front will only make it looser. Most surf shops will demo out FUTURES.
Dont stress, fanatic has the new multi box, it will fit after market future fins.
Feel free to Message me if you need more help, or talk to the shop you grabbed the board from.
Cheers Josh (Fanatic AUS)
Yep you can get better fins than the standard fanatic ones. Ive upgraded mine on an older 8'10" allwave and like them a lot more.
Also make sure you play with the placement of the centre fin.... if the board is moving around too much for you, move it back. Me, i like it right at the front, the looser the better for a big tank of a board like the allwave ![]()
