SO purchased a 10" longboard fin for my style on weekend, decided to go the FCSII as when we go away i stack boards and be nice n easy to snap the big dong into box (and out) without tools. thought wikid, this is amazing new technology.
Second day out in like 1-2 footers, cranked round the nose by stomping on the tail and then pop spin out falls the fin.
Luckily my mate found it by paddling round and seeing it.

SO glad i bought the cheap plastic version to test it as losing a$120-150 fin like that would suck.

Anyhow, dont feel like it clicks in super tight, wondering if anyone else has had experiences with these fins.
I am going to try to tighten it up via some tape on sides of fin to wedge it into box more, tho cant modify the wheel that jams into box so not sure if this will work.

assuming the fin and the fin box fit nice and tight-ish.
did it click when you push it down and the fin base should be level front to back.

Did you put it in backwards.. Just kidding..

I've been using them for years.. and so have many of my friends.. and this is the first I've heard of any problems..

I still trust them 100%..

yes clicked, well think so. was still dark and half asleep
yes correct direction, if not id best take up golf...
tight fit, tightish tho i thought they would have been tighter. there is some side wiggle, this is where i think if i tape round base of fin may help. have had to do with my von piros fins to get a decent fit.
will test soon.
wonder if it is the fin boxes in the sunovas?
based on feel of waves today i am happy with fin shape and size, plan was to test this with the cheap connect plastic version before buying a glass version. want to be confident before that happens or ill go back to trusty shapers fins

Mine fits really snug on the sides and i have to give it a fair tap to get it to come out of the box.

If its a bit loose on the side id imagine that would cause it to pop out.

Of the 5 'standard' US boxes across my current SUP quiver, no two of them fit the same.

Yep I bought one of the expensive ones for my Sunova Mal SUP, second day out...lost it.

Was tight in the fin box and it clicked in with no movement...then it was just gone. I didn't hit anything/anyone. To say I was unhappy about it would be an understatement

When I went back to the surf shop to tell them, they said they'd never heard of one coming out ( I thought bullsh_t)...they then sold me a standard dolphin fin at their cost, so i'm happy with their service...

I've looked at their fatboy fins recently, but i'm really sceptical of trying another...

I wonder if it's a leash caught around the tail of the board problem and somehow pulling the fin forward in some freakish way?

Are Sunova fin boxes any different? Do they have the pin-gap in the center of the box or up one end?

I'm sure the FSC guys would like some feedback about this.

I have heard of a FCSII-Connect (US Box) falling out, just like you said. No warning.
But I have been using them for some time with no issues (as many others).

I have also heard of the side FCSII fins falling out too, but there it seems that the leash is the culprit. But there again, never experienced it... on the opposite, I had some leashes cut on FCSII fins (most FCSII fins seem to come with nice blunted, but not all, they should be checked after buying them)
