You check the surf report and it says...
Longest flat spell ever at the moment.
Gunna have to take up golf.
That's an ordinary forecast! At least down here they lie and make out there will be some surf... You need to get a long board (and stick for the crocs)!
WELL ,,yes ...but it was a perfect 4-5 foot here ...after all the surfers where driving off as i arrived ,i had it allll a lone

Yeah, but I was away...again...
I just had a paddle on my 14' Search out at crunchies - first "waves" in a long time.
CSE - awesome mate - I bet that would've been a blast!
Crunchies is peerrrfect for a 14 Search!!!!
V. Jealous CSE - good stuff man!!!
SurfLine's still producing accurate forecasts up here.
Absolutely stunning mornings though... you can see how a 14' Search would be sweet for these days.
(if you squint hard enough you can see Indo)
Sacrificing small animals in public tends to be frowned on these days.
So, in some sort of half-baked attempt to inspire Huey to start cranking up the swell machine - I took the Flow out.
Possibly the first time a Flow has been used as a flat water stick.
I'm certain Huey will be pleased though- the big fella will crank some waves next week for sure.
I think my quasi-voodoo, swell-making, flat-water Flow dance has worked.
The Top End just got rocked by a 5.3 magnitude quake that hit Papua. Buildings were wobbling all over the joint. Nothing serious but had the local peeps running for the exits!
Now, I've just gotta wait for a little bit of swell to push through...
Good on ya Huey - yr alright.

BigHugg old mate - what a cracker idea - I'll see you there!
Maybe a cold, refreshing beverage or two to wash the dust away before your trip ya lucky bugger! What if's indeed!
Will give you a bell and be in touch.
Cheers man!
Bad news. I am down near tardy and they often do the reverse. Ive had three flawless 3-4 4-5 foot barrel days on the mid north coast that were forecast as flat. I rocked up at super tubes, after the forecast was strong off shore winds for 3 days. The wind had blown the waves down in town. 3-4 foot sets running 100 metres at super tubes. Just me and two mates out. Thanks coastal watch for that one. Usually happens late winter with cold water coming through. August to early September. Harder now with all the retirees. But if you drive a little its still easy to get midweek perfection without too much problem. Helps with a flat surf report.

MD, we must have picked up your flat spell cooto's.

Hope you a are getting some TopEnd swell out of this Southern push . I've got low tide on the balance pond and dust storm coming in
Clean day mountain views
Great stuff BigH! Good to see you're keepin' it real in the desert country man ~ tides definitely goin out on yr balance pond!
When you are rushing to get a surf in before the sea breeze hits, you get a great spot in the car park, get the board out, suit up, go to grab the paddle...and it's not there
Good thread Dingo man!
It was totally flat on US East Coast for the entire summer. Lake Atlantic.
Luckily, I had 2 cataract surgeries scheduled for that time frame..... so I didn't miss ANYTHING!
The day after my Doc gave the all clear, it was 5ft and glassy
Good things come!
tick tock, tick tock....
then it got better
But since it was saturday, 80F/27C outside and water at 70F/21C, crowds were there at low tide :-)

Five foot and glassy?? Creek you must be shrinking or from Hawaii. Looks overhead to me!!! Yikes.
cheers
Bob
...... When you borrow a friend's board and have a blast. He says borrow it for the week so you use it again and smash the nose up on your hip and then trying to get in get smashed by the shore break making it even worse !

Sorry Nooza , I was trying for Sup today pic...
Don't you hate it when,
they tell you there's a big change coming through ,heavy rain , intense storm warning . So you go out early mornings, clean out the big woody weed from road tail drain for 1/2 a km.
And you get a sprinkle
Hopefully you are doing better up top end MD
BigH - man we're getting a lot of westerlies and not much rain.
No monsoon to speak of. The Madden-Julian Oscillation is late. It's probably still hovering about over the Indian ocean somewhere, so needless to say it's pretty dry across the top end, in spite of some decent falls a couple of weeks back but that was about it.
Yeah man - don't ya hate it when the monsoon is late and the swell still hasn't arrived...
still - can't complain I s'pose - you know what they say, a bad day's SUP action **s all over a good day at work!!!
YEEEW!!!
The good news is we got RAIN.
Roughly 75mm here , was no rain since March 2018.
Didn't get to paddle, But wrapped to see greenery
