Hi. Thinking of flying Virgin from melbs to Perth.
1. Any weight issues - website says under 23kg and 3m
2. Best travel board bag for windsurfer + SUP?
Interested in travel stories - good and bad

Hey Mate

I've traveled a bit west to east and back with Virgin and haven't had an issue (so far) using the 8'10 flying objects roller.

1. With 2 boards, paddle and accessories plus extra padding (Im paranoid about getting damaged) it weighs in around 32kg. They'll charge you around $70 at that weight. Not sure if its a flat rate or by the kg. They will usually question you at the checkin on size so get there early and always say you've traveled with it before. Print out their policy and have it on hand as backup. The FO bags also have the length stamped on them so if they question you on that you can point that out. Havent seen at tape measure at the airport yet :)

2. www.flyingobjects.com.au/products/surf-sup/sup-roller-bag/ Reasonably easy to drag around with the wheels. A bit of a squeeze getting it on the bus to the long term parking but ok if theres not too many on board. Main issue is people not getting out of your way. Depending on the angle you're dragging it at the corners start to rub on the ground at the wheel end. Had mine 2 or 3 years now and still going good.

Safe travels

I have had more negative then positive experiences.
My advice would be too take your paddle and rent a board when you're there.
If the surf is ****, then no stress and if it's good then you can try something new out.

winner!
