Bought a new factory 2nd (major brand) board eps epoxy with removable screw air vent.
Used it a couple times in Sydney with no issues. Made sure board was dry, Drove up north Coast with air vent competly removed, opened bag slightly to let it breath, started at 4, wasn't hot, parked in full shade both times we stopped and we turn up for a 7 day surf trip and their is about 7 bubbles ( largest being 4cm x 2cm). 1/ can I surf it (doesn't appear to be any breaks in surface) 2/ dealer has said no warranty because it's a factory 2nd. (Surely this board was obviously pre damaged (exposed) 3/ if i get it repaired will it happen again ????

IMO it should be ok to use.

IMO once repaired they should not come back..

Where are they.. Deck.. Bottom.. or under the deck pad?

They are supposed to disclose why they are sold as "seconds" - and basically they are still obliged to provide a warranty for such defects - They cannot sell something that makes the product unusable or faulty, and fob it off as a second. Only things like imperfections in a paint job or slightly misaligned deck pad constitute being a second! Seriously would pursue it further. You got any photos? I would be more worried about what else would happen if that has happened with such minimal use!

Delamination is on the bottom of the board. I read somewhere if the manufacturer does not drill the air lock deep enough this can happen??? My last board took heaps more abuse and never had issues.

If you think it has just happened for no reason then as the guy before have said take it back and talk to the shop, what they will more than likely do is cut your board open and take some pics of the inside to see what has happened. If it has been cooked then getting a warranty will be very hard!!

My issue will be that. If the board is "cooked" inside their is no way that the conditions provided should have caused this. Pretty worrying. I didn't buy the board to wrap it up in cotton wool.

If it had no delam on it when you picked it up then it's happened after somehow now the only way to find out is to have a look inside and see. Now the hard thing with out doing this is just taking your word and although the shop owner might be happy with that the company who made the board will need more. If you have not cooked it then it should be sweet and looking inside will show that if it has been cooked and it was not cooked before you picked it up then i guess there is a problem!!

i would say the best thing is to take it in to the shop and talk to them but if some how it is cooked then i'm sorry i can not see them being able to help to much.

Was it wet in the cover? you say it was parked in the shade so does this mean it was super hot out side. What was the dates when you noticed it was delamed as with weather records these days it can be looked up to see how hot it was?

You are right boards don't just delam for no reason it's either a fault which will be picked up or its heat related or maybe the board has water inside and this can also help make a board delam.

The first 2 weeks of owning my brand new board and there are some lighter patches on the bottom of it, it was in the sun during these weeks. When I run my hand over it there is no raise...reckon that is delam??

that just looks like dried salt, a delam will have raised areas.

No. It's not a delamination.. I've seen this on red boards.. yellow boards.. and blue boards.. I think it's caused by moisture getting into the mat finish paint
