Heading over to Christchurch in a few weeks for a holiday and should have access to a sup and a car. Any advice / recommendations for where to sup surf would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Nic.
are you just staying in Christchurch or travelling?
Mainly chch, but are open to travelling, no fixed plans as yet.
Hey mate just been there the lakes are awesome for sup the beaches not so much love Wanaka and Queenstown.
Not really that many spots enjoy the lakes they are pretty special places to sup.
Mate, just checked in for the first time for a few months, look at Sumner and Taylor's, off shore winds blow from the S/W for Sumner and west for Taylor's. If it's small look at Brighton or further north along Waimarie beaches. Most of the swell comes from the south, South East direction, further north you go along the East Coast the bigger the swell if from the south direction. Look all along the east Coast heading towards Kaikoura you are bound to find a secluded spot all perfect for SUP. Maungamanu point or just north of Kaikoura township is well worth a look, it's a long wally rocky, pebbly point break that breaks close to shore, if you get this place when it's on...well, you'll see, oh yea crowds haven't been invented yet in that part of Aotearoa, happy holiday dude.![]()
Almost forgot...check Banks peninsular East Coast beaches, have a look at magnet bay if you like left hand points. Tumble down and Te oka bays they are all spectacular cliff lined bays easy access, so,you'll be sweet.
