we were lucky I had a 15cm piece of Kialoa shaft that fitted inside this one so we tapered the ends of it to try and minimize the inevitable stress risers we are creating

It has alley designs currumbin on it .

Those cut off top Kialoa pieces do come in handy..

before and after wrapping , the before shot shows the glass/carbon layering of the broken shaft , and the after shot shows the simple masking tape used for compression

and after sanding and clearcoat it is all lovely again

Do you taper the thickness of wrap from the centre of repair out? That is thinner further from the break?

yes it tapers to match the ground away original shaft

ok, more so I was thinking to transition the forces out progresively ie not an abrubt change...

the fabric wrap is replacing what was broken , and the inner sleeve was "beveled" on the ends to minimize that abrupt change (stress riser)
