Hi All,
Would greatly appreciate advice on the following;
Keen to develop as a paddler, get quicker on the flat & learn some down-winding, eventually. Here's my situation;
I've been paddling for 6 months & live near the bay, so during warmer months, am on the water 3-5 times/week. I'm still new the sport & would rate myself as a lower intermediate paddler, but very keen. I paddle in the bay & am steady on flatwater, but a bit less so in chop & small waves. Also, due to circumstance, not much of a surfing background. I'm currently paddling on a 10'6" all rounder, which has been great, but am looking to upgrade so I can move faster on the flat & also eventually learn to downwind paddle.
I'm currently looking at picking up a used 14' x 28" Javelin, as I hope it could be a good board to grow into. I don't however want to make things too hard on myself in the next 1-2 years if it proves to be too big of a step up. Ideally, I want to get a board that will allow me to develop as a paddler but in the short term I'm not going to grow out of nor is it going to be too difficult to manage.
Though I'm leaning towards a 14', would welcome advice on 12'6" if its believed to be a better step at my level.
Also, would appreciate thoughts on the 2015 Javelin 14' x 28" GX, & if that could suit, otherwise suggestions on alternative.
Thanks in advance & look forward to response.
Cheers,
Go 14 feet, better speed and good if you get into racing or downwind paddling. I would actually have a look at the secondhand market on the breeze and see what's available near you. Something around 28 wide sounds pretty good.
can't go wrong with the 14 x 28 jav
great board ,faster than the 12.5.
i was also thinking 12,5 a year ago glad i went the big one.
