Very keen to purchase a board and I really want to get the right one. Initially my wife and I want to share the board. Im 5'11 & 78kg.We only want to cruise around on our local lakes. Our local shop down here in Canberra were great and recommended either a Naish Nalu Sport ($999) or Naish Alana ($1699). Liked both boards but was hoping to come away ready to paddle spending only $1200/$1300. What do people think?

I don't mind paying between $1000-$1700 if it means getting a quality and reliable board.
I see heaps of these boards down at Currumbin.
Personally, I own a Naish Nalu 10'6 GT, which is a great board, but at 4 times the price of the Evoke if I was starting out in SUP i'd be buying something like the Evoke in the Bamboo construction as my first board, or something second hand (plenty for sale here on Seabreeze). I've seen the Evokes in the shop and they look well made & great value for money.
If all you are doing is cruising on a lake, you don't need a high performance expensive board to start with. Good luck!

Hey Matt,
For your first board or boards The Surfboard warehouse has some good products at reasonable prices.
Their paddles aren't the greatest but their boards are great value for money.
you can always go for a more costly model when if you continue in the sport.
No I don't have one of their boards I just think they are good value.
