The Minion sure is fun, especially when the wave-face is steeper. Although it is funny watching it through DJ's camera - I thought the waves were bigger and my turns were sharper... Reality sucks

You know the saying.. I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you..

Some of the locals are not real happy about me even doing these vids because they are worried it might bring crowds.. and saying exactly where it is might be going too far.. I understand their concerns..

But if you're ever over this way just PM me and I'd be happy to show you myself.. .. btw .. It's near Point Leo..

Very envious gents... Still 3-4 weeks off with the hand injury... Bought a 8"8 wide body and haven't even got it out of the wrapping! CSE you seem to have the minion mastered..well done looks very nice.

See you in a few weeks, I will be the overweight and unbalanced old guy cursing his lack of balance

Thanks for your comments - I think it is far from mastered, but I feel a lot more comfortable on it. If the conditions are OK, and you can take off when the wave is steep enough, then it is a ton of fun.

Thats the gopro effect, Ive had some great sessions only to come home and watch the vid and go wow felt much bigger that that. Im contemplating a vanguard for the upcoming summer and it was great to see what you could get up to on those waves

Crowds already there on the weekends now - probably not as bad for you during the week DJ

It would be interesting to try a camera without the fish-eye.

I would recommend trying a smaller board in the Vanguard shape. On the right wave the Minion is a ton of fun. The Speeed and Hokua are also great fun, but for maneuverability the Minion wins (it is a foot shorter).

Good stuff boys.... keep those cameras rolling

DJ, I tried the paddle cam.... but my rotator cuff is so trashed that I can't lift the paddle over my head with a tiny GoPro on it

Was happy reading the posts in a warm bed on Sunday morning, but after those vid's now I gotta get out on the water for a SUP. Thanks guys!

Funny you say about protecting your local spot DJ, was out the surf yesterday and we were laughing about one of the guys dissing our local spot to the area biggest SUP shop. Same deal, can't have every newbie from 100miles converging on our pristine little Paradise :-)

You are right Bretto. DJ is just trying to do the right thing by everybody. It is a great spot, except for all the broken glass on the jagged rocks we surf over. Other than that, if you can keep your mind off the nearby great white breeding ground, then it is a fun place to surf. Of course, you don't surf there if it has been raining; the sewage outflow gets particularly smelly, and the rubbish (and hygiene products) get caught up in your fins.

I've had exactly the same op, tendon sheath infection ?
My patch up looked just like yours, it'll heal up no worries, just need to stretch your finger when the times right

Haha sounds like another beach about 20km west ;)

Awesome videos Dave, love the lazy look of that wave, looks a joy to cruising on....
I must get round that side more often...
