We had a team based surf competition in late August here in South Australia.

The emphasis was on FUN & participation, any board, any level.
Many new participants came along which was fantastic to see.

Teams were allocated by the contest director on the morning.

4 teams, each had 5 members this time.
Half hour heats.
Best 2 waves counted for each competitor.
Extra team points can be earned by:
- At least 4 team members catch the same wave for 5 seconds " party wave", scores 30 team points. Once only.
- An extra 3 points awarded to anyone who surfs to the beach from an unbroken wave and touches the sand. Can be done multiple times.

Everyone Surfed, judged the other heat competitors , ate the bbq , presented the winning edible trophys and packed up, in 3 hours ( finished just after 12pm), leaving the rest of the day free.

The Concept of the PARTY WAVE does have its risks and considerations & not every location is suited for it. On this particular occasion the contest director felt the competitors & location suited it.
