Hey fellow Seabreezers, I've just knocked up a short portrait documentary (3 minutes) on a timber board builder who teaches people how to build their own boards from scratch. I'd be keen to hear what you guys think of it..

If you're interested in building a board, you can build whatever your dream board is in his workshop, or you can do it from your own shed interstate or overseas and he can send you frames, some materials, and instruction. He does the whole thing from harvesting the trees himself (fast growing, very sustainable if you're so inclined to ask). The workshop mentors you through the process, whether you've never picked up a tool before or you're a cabinet maker, barely surf, you shred, or you never will. Hopefully some of you are interested in learning to build a timber board, it's an epic skill for life.Anyway, I hope you like the video and get a bit of inspiration from it! Feel free to share it if you know someone who you think would like the video or would like to build a boardIf you're interested, the website is www.bodhitreesurf.com.au Shakas

Would love to do it but the shot of the internal frames freaks me out.
Don't think I'm up to it

Haha no worries, you're definitely up for it Nozza Bodhi Tree designs and cuts the internal frames for whatever board you want build, you just slot them together then build the rest under tuition. All sorts of people come through the Bodhi doors who've never picked up a tool, and they leave with amazing boards that they've built themselves, plus the skills to do it again. My girlfriend and I are building our first one at the moment and I can say for sure that you learn and get hooked pretty quickly no matter which foot you start on. Such an epic experience if you ever get a chance. Yieww!

Nice, the big stick.. I think anything over 9ft is about $1500 for you to build here in Perth, and if you want him to glass it for you it costs another $550. Or for a few hundred he can send frames and tuition to you in Vic and put you in contact with timber suppliers over there for sourcing your deck material. I think they usually charge a couple hundred Here's the contact page on their websitewww.bodhitreesurf.com.au/contact
