Heading up to Bali again soon from Perth and taking my 9'8 this time. Interested which airline will carry a SUP without hassles. Anyone travelled recently with a 9ft + board?

Cheers

Yep, Garuda for sure...

Took my 9'6" over in May with no problems... (except volcanoes...)

Air Asia were okay with it as well and I don't think it cost much extra.

Cheers....Yes, it's the 3m plus size that is the question really. Someone else told me Garuda will take up to 10ft? Other airlines seem a bit sketchy.

I saw a guy with a 10 foot sup bag when we departed Bali a couple of months ago on V he got it on,I think it depends on the type of plan.

Garuda recently changed policy on sporting equipment allowance. So now if you take 15kg of sporting it is included in your total allowable, so if you have 32kg allowance minus 15kg (sporting gear) = 17kg for your personal effects. But you still also get your carry on too. So that's an extra 7kg... that's not checked. Changed in August this year. Never had problem with big boards too.

June/July I took my 9'5" SUP with me on Virgin. No hassles at all. If you're in luck maybe you'll be delayed by an ash cloud as I was!

Interesting as Virgin website states no more than 9'1?

I have taken my 9'2 several times with Air Asia.
I did enquire a couple of years ago on the maximum length they would take, I'm not 100% sure now what the answer was (think it was 3.5mtrs) but I know my 10'2 would have been ok.
