The 2015 Jav's will be available in GX construction on both the 26 and 28" eventually. The release of the 26 is a little delayed, hopefully before December.

Obviously anything I say can be taken as bias, but looking at Matty Stringers GPS speeds from the Maliko run's, there is consistently faster speeds on the 2015 than the 2014 (which is a very fast board). The crazy thing is the speeds on the 12'6" x28" are amazing (and averaged faster than the 2014 12.6" x24")! They are a little different to ride (obviously), but once you get comfortable there is noticeable ease in picking up runners and much improved acceleration.

The big difference for me at 95kg (6'2") was with the 28" wides I can pretty much stay in the one spot on the board 90% of the time without having to move back on most runs, which is very helpful for a big rider, increasing the number of runs for a start and but also increasing the number of linkups. The boards were all super stable even the 12'6" X26 for me in very bumpy conditions.

I look forward to keeping a few of you onto them to hear your comments.

There's More hype about this new board than I have seen for a board before. Naish have done well with that and ahead of the game getting so much info out on it so early ahead of the other brands. Listened to the punters about making a cheaper more durable board than just an elite model also. I'm tipping sales will be big in Aus for them.
Ps does lahui Kai get royalties from the design?
I'm sure they are very different just look alike from the pictures

The 2015 Javelin is more of a progression onwards from the 2014 Javelin than it is anything else. There is nothing else like this on the market both in performance and look.

Apart from the paintwork (which looks awesome) what make the 2015 LE Jav's different from the 2014 LE Jav's?

From what I can see the difference is mostly in the nose.. Sharp'ish rails all the way to the tip of the nose.. Also the v in the underside of the nose is new.. and it looks like they have put more volume in the nose area.. I can't wait to paddle one..

Naish should be giving DJ one to demo with the cameras set up so we can all see how it downwinds

Maxxeeboy, There is a lot of differences, but probably the main one is the bow shaping and chines in the nose area, designs to release the water and keep the bow at water level (with the chines) in nose submerging situations without moving back on the board. Also the board leaps up onto the surface of the water in sprints which is very fast. Most of the design has gone into making the board extremely fast, especially in acceleration. The board is fast, stable and even makes me somewhat fast!

hi jb. is the 26" the smallest width they are going to do. if you are on narrower boards going to 26" is a big ask especially in the flats.

i would be surprised if kai is paddling a board that width.

i mean a serious racer/trainer would be looking for a narrow fast board and just about 'any' 26" board theses days is too wide

in short if naish aren't doing a board narrower than 26" are they going to satisify serious lightweight paddlers. maybe they are that good at that width!!!

I think when she set that time she was on Caspers 14 then in the second run she thought she might be quicker on the 12'6 where she did a 1:05 I think. Something about the volume being to much for her on the 14.

Why would I not post it? I was not having a go at her ans she paddled really well as well, the times would be about right I posted as in the long race she used a 12'6 and was about 6 mins behind the top girls so it all works out. I did have a chat to casper and unless I misunderstood which could happen then this is what he said not sure why you would respond in the way you did but happy days to you!!

Also when she got her fast time I was standing at the timing tent and for some reason the timers did not start, I was very surprised that they did not have to redo it but from what I read the time was recorded on a phone at the same time with a 5 second gap to the other girl on the naish which to be honast I thought was more like 2 seconds tops.
I am here and was standing right at the spot when it all was happening not sitting there on a computer I never said anything bad about her just stating what I know.

When Ang had her final run the clock did not work and she had to go back and start again which is what usally happens.

Hope you put a smile on your dial instead of stewing on this type of thing as really is it that big of deal to have such a snappy response?

Back on topic..

looking at the naish and seeing how it goes and paddling next to Casper for over a hour it seems to go pretty good, with the flat bottom it is always going to be a pretty good sprinting board and it looked fast it the sprints, I might get a bit nervous about the hard rails catching alot in DW conditions but this is just me looking at it and I'm sure when it comes out this will be well tested by DJ!! it looks pretty cool and the one here is super light.

I'm sure all the Naish guys will love it..

26 & 28" are the sizes. And all but Kai (super freak) are riding the 26". It is important not to get too hung up on sizes. When we looked at GPS speeds down wind, the 12'6" x 26" was considerably quicker than the current 12'6" x 24", even the new 12'6" x 28" was quicker. so I am not concerned about the widths as they work with the design and result in a more stable faster board, which is win win in my books.

As for downwinding, this really amazed me. I found the board easier and faster to down wind than anything I have ever used (BTW, I'm a bit of kook downwinder). Using the 14' x 28" keeping up with and catching good paddlers was no issue, and I was able to link multiple runners with ease. Again the big difference for me was not having to move back so much (which really sux for heavier riders), similar to the 2014 X26's you can really bury the nose on these boards and they just punch through and even accelerate as they pick up the next run, it's a pretty weird feeling. The biggest advantage with the new shape IMO is in the real conditions though, small chop & runs (inside the reefs on Maui), that's where these boards really shine, picking up just about anything and normally where a larger human like myself would get slaughtered by lightwieght's, I am now actually somewhat nearly competitive.

Anyway, it's great that there's some talk happening about the boards. They are very different and will draw attentions from all sides. I look forward to getting them in for you all to demo, as that's where the real opinion is, YOU.

Thxs .I think they look great and are along the lines of what o think is good. My Tomy is super flat hard edged but has a wide planning nose for DW ing. While it very good in the flats too that noise is going to cost some very top end speed in the flats so the new Naish interests me for sure

Nice looking board I haven't seen the Naish in person but it does look similar to the Lahui Kai Manta with the turned down nose and vee entry (and chines too by the sound of it??). Mick diBetta and Dick van Straalen put the Manta together back in 2010 and have been honing the design for the 12'6" & 14' race sups as well as for 10'6", 12' and 17'4" unlimited prone boards for the Molokai.

The Manta works very well in the ocean with a 1st and 2nd in the mens technical race at last years Aussie titles and a 3rd & 4th in the mens Marathon on the same board. The design is fast in the flats too so it could be the answer if you only want to travel with the one board. You can get a custom off of Mick or SUP ATX are doing a production 12'6" and apparently there is a 14' coming out this summer too. It would be great to see a home grown label like Lahui Kai get some kudos for the R&D they have put in over the years.

I have seen a few people comparing these two boards but the naish looks nothing like that on the bottom or deck after looking at the naish and besides the reverse bow they are different boards.

Or they are thinking naish have copied and by me saying they are nothing alike makes them a little unhappy? Haha why would mick get any credit for the naish? He did not help make it and if I know the naish guys they would have done alot of there own r&d just because the nose looks close it must be a copy hey!!
