I have a pair of coconut fibre blend boardies made by Reef and they were $30, I take it the kids think they are not cool or something but they are going strong 4 years now of heavy use, I previously had numerous sets of boardies from Quicksilver and Billabong, which were fine in the 80'90's and early 2000's but the quality has completely been absent in these brands now and I would never pay full price for those brands now, Rip Curl were caught making several of their products in North Korea and claimed they never knew, so that is not a brand I can support anymore, $199 is mostly a marketing ploy to make you believe the board shorts are somehow the Rolls Royce of board shorts many of them also require a set of sunglasses to view them with as they are so bloody bright, but they are still made in China and also are not environmentally sound in construction being polyester mixes and/or some horrid man made fabrics that are highly unlikely to be friendly for your skin......or your wallet......AVOID.
BTW my favourites are these Italian made (still polyester) boardshorts , they do look pretty nice though and at least they aren't made in China! And that's US dollars BTW, but you do get free shipping LOL.
