hi all. i am after advise on a flat rockered board to paddle at my local spot. its a fat peeling wave with little power. is there a board between 9ft and 10ft at about 150lt vol to make my surfing better. im currently on a starboard 8.10 wp that is not doing the job. ta
Spencer - hang on for another month or so and then get a starboard 9.5 x 32 widepoint - it's gunna be the bees knees IMO. If you don't wanna go so wide then a starboard 9.8 x 30 Element would be very very hard to beat, as its a lovely paddling board that gets in early and easy and is very nimble on the wave and will handle anything from ankle to way overhead.
Starboards rock - stay with em if you can.
+1 on the Starboard Element 9' 8". I compared this board to my Fanatic Fly 10' and it paddled so well in flat water, but in the small surf it felt much more at home. I (not very experienced) found it easier to carve and it I didn't bury the nose like I did on the fanatic.
With my fanatic if I dont step back as soon I pick up the wave the flat nose catches and its all over.
Spencer there are a couple of new boards on the market that may be of interest for your local break.
The new Naish 10'10 Nalu that is a quick paddler and very stable. We are yet to test its surfing credentials but on weak waves it will have some serios glide.
Blane chamber of Paddle Surf Hawaii has also just released some boards that were developed from Ocean racing boards that surf 'insane' for their width and stability. There is a bit of info here-

I dont know the Starboard range that well but there is bound to be a board in their extensive range, that suits as well.
