There seems to be a gap in the market , for a performance type longboard sup around 120lrs
9'0? ,28.5" wide .
It's a forgotten corner of supping .
Anyone out there got any pointers ?

How about exactly what you are talking about, 9'0 x 28.5 and 132L.

I bought one of these for my local spot for the fuller days when it's hard work on a short board. The combination of a 7'4 Pro tail in a 9'0 board allows for tight pocket turning and also walking the board for trim and even twinkling the toes over the front. Quite a technical board to ride but absolutely a bag of fun.

Gong make a longboard that's 10' x 25 3/16" 121L

Extremely cheap and cheerfull but sometimes long lead times for delivery.

Yes, the Gong "IT" is a pure retro shape (50/50 rail), not a performance one.

Note that these are full carbon, PVC sandwich deck with a kevlar band on the rails, high end construction.

PS: there was even more specialized (narrower) Gong performance longboard shapes, but not in the production line anymore, due to lack of demand. They should be available as prototypes on demand now. E.g:

This one is a real killer: 9'2" x 25.6" x 120l second hand, but sent by the shop so no transport hassles.

I have the Gong IT and its a really fun board but nowhere near the 121l, rather 10/15l less givven the float of my 90-93?? kg compared to other similar volume boards.

I think gong IT has now little different rails and a little more volume since 2014/15

I'm waiting for mine. Should be there next week (maybe).

Check out the Exocet 9'6"..

IT 115l vid in very small waves. Thanks to the paddle and in bigger waves, this board can be ridden with a little more modern style. It's a surfboard so the feeling is of course a lot better than any longboard SUP.


As Coolas said the Gong perf longboard SUPs are very fun to ride.

Another board that could match a bit more waxer00's request is the Tropical Blends Pokole 8'10 28"1/2 (there's also a 9'1 Model).


Bonz has also good longboard shapes.

Imagine Surf might have this area covered.

I've got this one coming over for myself for exactly the same reasons. Dave Kalama designed the Imagine Impact 9' and 9'8" to be noseridable yet still rip from the tail. Having seen Dave surf these models, they seems to do it all.

Yes, the volume and details of shape of the IT have changed somewhat during its life.

Gong does not actually changes shape per year: some models are tweaked each month, some stay the same for years, and changes can happen anytime.
Gong does not keep the technical specs on the official site, as they fear it could confuse people. You can find the specs of a specific model often in the forum on the topics dedicated to the board, or just by mailing the team.

My favourites are the tropical blend ,and the imagine 9'0 looks like the middle bowl of porridge ; in other words , just right . I wonder if they are nice and lightweight ?

The Tropical Blends Pokole weight (including pad, leash, fins) was 8.7kg for my board. Very strong construction.
