Would the 2.5m green kanu lock be long enough tottie down a fanatic 27.5 wide race board or would the next size up be better ( ps dont want too much overhang )?![]()
The longer yellow one should let you do the whole thing with just one strap.. depending on how far apart your roof racks are.
The longer yellow ones also let you tie two boards down if ever you need to.
They will also match your board (if it's a Naish).. ![]()

Just drape any left over strap into the top of an open car door and shut the door on the strap - quick way to keep any loose ends tidy.
i.e. it is easy to deal with a bit of extra strap length. It is not so easy to use a 2.5m strap to do a 2.6m job!
Go the 4m (yellow) rather than the 2.5, a longer set will be a lot more versatile. I'm using only one Yellow (4m) Kanu for a 14x30 fanatic falcon but my roof bars aren't a long way apart. A pair of 4m straps does a stack of three big boards in bags with a good length of strap to spare. As SSSimon says, sometimes more is more.
I have a 14'x27.5 falcon and Use green straps, has about one foot of excess. Easy to tie off and your done. Longer will be annoying in my opinion. Kanulocks don't go so well in the car doors with steel braid in the webbing.
If tying on two boards just buy some cheap long straps to use over both boards once first board is secured with your green kanulock straps. Works well when it's windy, or if you drive a 4WD.
2.5m or 4m the decision is yours?
I've got both the green and the yellow straps. The greens are great for one board (can hold my Naish Nalu 11'4 with a bit to spare) or a couple of surfboards but if you ever want to carry more than one board go the yellows.
Much more practical. You can use one for a single board and two with multiples.
I've managed three SUPs and two surfboards with the yellow ones. More concerned about ripping the roof racks off than the straps coming loose (has happened to me twice. Never again now they get bolted on).
Kickels i have both but i mainly use the 2.5m set especially if i am only
loading one board. My board is 30'' wide and i still have excess strap thats then tied off.On occasions my young blokes body board has been tied on top of my board still using the 2.5m without any problems concerning length. If your not sure just cut some string to 2.5m or 4m and decide then whats more suitable for you.
GO LARGE
I got the 4 mtr yellow ones, the 2.5 ones were a struggle with a standard SUP in bag, and at $70 you get more strap for your $$$$$
I've got the longer straps which are great for a couple of boards. I wouldn't go shorter.
My advice would be get the long ones and use them for more than one board or on the occassions when you think you'll need to lock them.
Then have a short, cheaper set (not lockable) for the times you just want to put one board on the car and don't need to lock it.
I know it's more expensive than just buying one set but it's still cheaper than buying two set's of Kanu.
I would definitely go with the longer yellow straps. Beware that if the tails are tucked in the door and it rains, the straps act like a channel and water will get in your car. If it rains, I tie the excess off on the racks.
