Anyone has tested 2014 Naish Glide 14' GX vs Naish Javelin 14' GX in flat water and open ocean. Which's the fastest?
Nice to hear this DJ and Nickmcd because I have the Jav. But in a race in open ocean the Jav would be faster too or the glide is better in this case?
Even in open ocean the Jav is quicker but unless you're a lightweight or have the balance of a cat the speed advantage will be lost because of the falls.. Jacko was super quick on the Jav in open ocean water.. Randy Naish once told me it's the fastest board in open ocean and he's also about Jacko's size.. I'm tall and heavy and found it too tippy unless it was calm water.. I have used it on a few DW'ers and it went like a rocket.
I had the flatwater javelin too...tippy for me in choppy confused water..on flatwater unbeatable...have you tried a LE26x14 ? Super stable AND fast.
The JAV GX is a very different shape from the JAV LE(what team naish is mostly seen racing). The JAV GX has a true displacement hull and is designed for calm to somewhat choppy conditions. Has a different nose, rocker, widths, and outline. The Glide GX is just a wider version of the Jav LE. Same rocker, nose shape, and rail shape, its just 29" wide. DJ did you downwind the JAV GX or JAV LE? Or both? From your posts I thought you had the 26" wide LE?? The JAV LE is by far the fastest board in the lineup in all conditions if you have the balance and the $$$. So IMO I would say in open ocean with wind and more chop, even at 29" wide the Glide GX would be faster for most riders than the JAV GX. I own the 14' Glide GX and love the versatility.

We would say that the Javelin 26x14 GX is the fastest but tippy, New 2014 Glide 29x14 GX very stable but not as fast as LE 26x14. Then if I need an all purpose board (flat and open ocean race, fun and DW) the best choice is a LE 26x14? Is it correct considering I have 95kgs and 1,80m?

IMO the normal 14' Jav is the fastest out of the three.. but it's pretty tippy.. [It's fine on flat water].
The 14' Glide is the best choice for me because it's still a pretty fast board and also very stable.
The new LEX26 is a full-on super light weight [and super expensive] race board that's desiged mostly for down winding.
I don't think it's as fast as the normal Jav in flat water.. but it's pretty close.. and surfs much better when downwinding.
I'm 6'4'' and 95kgs and to be honest I struggle with the stability of the LEX26 in open ocen and rough water.
Maybe I just need to spend more time on the LE X26 but I think the 26'' width is pushing it for me at my height/weight/age and ability.
The jav 26 is faster on dead flat water. Soon as there is a bump on the water the jav le's are way faster and 10 times better on a downwinder...
