Hey Supmaori just got the 8.5 to go with my 8.10 speed.First try in xshore small backhand waves which is pretty much everything im bad at and the 8.5 went pretty well i thought.Def a huge diff on waves and with the wind affected later drops.I did notice as i tired it got a lot harder but i susspect ill get fitter or my sessions willk become shorter. In summary i think the 8.5 is gonna be a cracker for our beachies and better shaped reefs and the 8.10 will still be good for the longboard type waves we ride.Been playing with the cdrive fins in the 8.10 and they really free the tail up,occasional tail drift but i dont mind that.Cheers Sunovians.

If it is not too personal a question; what do you weigh LucyLoo? I seem to remember you are both in the mid 90 kg's. Supmaori, you were wondering if the 8'3 would be a better choice - what do you think now? I recently picked up an 8'8 and would love to try an 8'5 but wonder how it would perform compared to the 8'7" Flow.

I was able to compare the 8'3 with the 8'5 on land when my board got delivered. The thing I noticed the most was obviously the less volume in the middle of the board compared to the 8'5. My good mate who 10kgs lighter than me ordered it. While I think i could have dialed the 8'3 in, it would be a challenge and the conditions would need to be near perfect for me to enjoy it like I do the 8'5. Conditions at my break are variable so I was pleased I stuck with the 8'5. Performance wise I don't think you lose alot and the extra length will help me when I paddle the 3kms to my preferred break. If I was sitting at 80kgs the 8'3 would b the go. You don't notice the length on the Wave and imo it's feels the same length as my 7'8 minion when riding it.
Chur hope that answers your question

Hi CSE im at 86 kegs and 56 years with a longboard history although just back from Ments where i rode 6.6 shortboard mostly. As im only over the road from you at the Island i reckon we are surfing similar type waves i think.I love the 8.10 speed for the longboarding stuff but have tried many others to find the happy medium on something shorter.Im pretty sure the 8.5 speed is going to tick that box.Its going to require a little more energy but im thinking the rewards will be worth it.Hilly in WA is 108 and smashing it on the 8,10 speed as shown in his photos on another fun aspect of the speed post. That was the incentive for me to get a bit smaller, take the challenge and downsize but i still want to have fun so im thinking this could be it .Regards Lucyloo aka Richie
