Well here we go again ,sold one of my boards .so one in one out ,
I have been eyeing up the Kanga for a while ,I love the rounded pin tail ,and the dims ,depending on which sight you go on
but 130.9 x 30 7/8 wide ,8'9 ,nose is wider than my 8'8 flow and 4 and a bit more litres .so thinner and longer more beef
so recon it will a better board in bigger waves ,also more litres for my 100 kgs .flatter rocker it seems ,anyway up dated pictures from Shaw as we go along ,TR3 for me .for those who don't know pine not Balsa ,making a lighter board
here's kinda what I have in mind ,
Draw up by the Sunova factory .
could you imagine this in full gloss
i do love a rounded pin tail..... cant wait to hear your thoughts. PS Im loving my 8'8 SPX. the flow doesnt get wet too often now...
I've had my kanga now for a couple of years, I love it, turns easily, especially of the tail, it's fast and easy to paddle. I tried a number of set ups with the fins quobbas, cdrives, I eventually settled with surfing it as a quad with the cdrives. I'm 95-100kg and I went the 9'0, my first thought was I should have gone smaller as it is so stable to paddle given its width, I still really haven't changed my thoughts on that, but I'm happy with what I've got. I still surf my speeed regularly and have recently purchased a Casey revolution 10', for something different. There all great boards and I can't see myself getting rid of them anytime soon. Be interesting to see what you think of the kanga.
Always good to see your next board Dude, and this one looks to be perfect for you!
Keep us up on the progress and get us some slashing Tardy vids!!

What size would you go down to? What the stability like when you're sitting out the back waiting for a wave?

Probably the 8'9" 130litre, if I went smaller, it would probably be great on a wave, but hard work paddling out and sitting out the back. I find the 9'0 very stable and can handle most conditions I surf in, with out being too exhausting.
what I look at is nose width and tail ,flow vs Kanga ,as the 8'8 flow is my most used board ,I know I won't have much problem
or I'm sure I will have a easier time on the Kanga ,time will tell ,as you can see the kanga wider nose but narrower tail but longer .4.6 more litres
nose width tail thickness
So we're going for more of a grainy look ,more pictures tomorrow ,thank you Shaw , looks great so far
TIME for the top ,Hope this isn't boring the sheet out of you ,by the way this is tint and resin they are applying
That design looks awesome but won't such dark colours be a problem in hot Aussie land?
I could be from Tassie .which is almost as cold as the UK , but only if you leave them in the sun or don't have a board bag ,so basically you just have to be careful
this is my second dark board ,secret is to flip it over so the pad is up if you do leave it out which I don't , but if ,I just throw a towel on it ,the self breather is a great design ,
here's my flow from 3-4 years ago ,still going strong .like the world has become ,you don't leave anything laying around or its gone .
the kanga will go through some more sanding and the grain look will appear ,so it won't be as black as this one .more photos coming soon .cheers theSeb .
Even in the UK I've noticed that my blue boards get quite hot on the occasional sunny day when I go on a trip and I don't bother with the board bag. I guess I ought to be less lazy about it
up dated pictures ,after this it was sprayed with a uv protection coat ,off to design and pads in the next two days
OK almost done ,just polishing and I'm getting them to do the pads ,usually generation board are sold without .
anyway 2 nd last batch of photos enjoy ,current weight is 7,0 kgs
Absolutely Beautiful!
Such a grew crew at the Sunova Factory. most live the Surf / Skate life and love the boards they produce.
Two great breaks just behind the Factory and a skate park in the front yard.
It attracts the best of the best Thai craftsmen and women to create these custom masterpieces.
Very unusual in the SUP manufacturing world.. and it shows in the product!
I lived inside this factory for over a month and got to walk around 24/7 and watch them at work, then surf with them during the day.. an amazing experience!
On the Bucket list to visit that Factory Creek ,they certainly do a fantastic job .a couple more days and it will be complete ,then the waiting game to get it ,March I should be up and riding , looking forward to tackling some bigger waves on this one ,
