Thanks for the advice. I drove past the shop to put my deposit down on the flow but the guy wasn't there and I had the kids in tow so couldn't wait around.
Having read the last two comment I'll think about it overnight before going back. I put this little spreadsheet together to see if it can help me make a decision.
I'm currently on a deep custom that I've had for about 5 years (still in amazing shape), but having knee and back issues and at 6'2 tall and weighing 90kg. I was looking for something a little more comfortable out back but that still performs well. A little extra width than the current 29" should do it.
I have tried the Flow and felt it turned really well. The shape allowed for great manoeuvrability when on a wall and I found it much easier to turn on my backhand than my current board. My only criticism of the flow was that it felt it lacked a bit of down the line speed which seems to have been addressed with the flash, so maybe that's the go.
The flash sounds great, but I just wonder how it performs at the large size I am looking at. I guess I am just wary of laying down 2k on something I've not tried. Would be great to get more feedback re the flash, but I only have 2 days to decide if I want to save some wedge.
Hey mbuz, I am also 93 kg and 6'3. I love my 8'10 Acid, but I also have the 9'1 Acid when the conditions are a bit challenging. If you want something that is "a little more comfortable out the back", then the 9'1 will give you that, but you have to work a
little harder to turn it. I find the 8'10 Acid pretty stable, but if it is lumpy/choppy, then it does become challenging. But on a wave, I think it is fast and maneuverable. (I also have the 8'8 and 8'10 Speeeds, and used to have an 8'7 Flow - and I also have an 8'7 Acid, but you need better conditions and stay hungry.)
So, I think that if you don't want to gamble, the Acid should work for you, and the Flow is a safer choice (a little thicker and fuller in the nose, and thus you can go a bit shorter).
