Any suggestions or comments on using spray on deck grip for traction on the nose of my board?

You could also try the clear deck grip pads from Riley Balsa Surfboards.

I've installed it on our SUPs and it works well.

Would hesitate to use it on a prone board as I'm told it's a little slippery when you don't have your full weight concentrated on your feet but for SUP it's excellent and it looks good

I put monster traction paint on my board. Best stuff ever!

Why do you wax pad? surely if pad isn't good enough rip it off and just use wax (make it 1kg lighter approx)

Like most folk they like the comfort of a pad but for me I like some wax on it......way more grippy and I just like a solid footing. Not too worried about weight.....I'm not a pro rider.

Monster traction is fine but you can get a rash if you fall on it.

Clear pad like the versatraction are very nice, very light, smooth on the skin, but not have the immediate grip of wax like Mahanumah said. However you get used to it and are very pleasant for noseriders. They can be removed easily for reselling if needed.

I use monster traction for "shortboard"-like shapes and versatraction on longboard shapes.

As I have a big quiver and do not use all boards all the time and live in a warm climate, wax is a bit inconvenient (and messy) for me. But then, I didnt use wax on my prone surfboards either.

Thanks for the advice. Versa traction looks good to me. Does anybody know where I can get it in NZ?

I have tried a variety of spay ons.... I have found that they get "greasy" under my bare feet.... grip is blah....probably just me....

Now I just wax the nose

Hi 90milebeac, grip the back of board and spray monster traction in the front.

Plus i let a mark on the grip where i step for paddling position, specially for small board where half an inch precision is important.
Once i spray monsterpaint on the front part, just sand lightly the grip of the monster paint other wise it can damage skin or neoprene wetsuit.

I had to make them ship from Hawaii to France... paid as much for port as for the product...

I'd advise to look for similar clear grips, maybe they will be more readily available.

What is nice with versatraction (and I guess similar grips) is that it is a flat surface with micro holes that act as suction cups when wet: thus no rash, and no traction when dry, to ease getting in/out the bag.
