Hi
I know they are old boards but the concept was and still is very good for me. Stable, glide, turning from the tail, easy to transport inside the car. Has somebody tested both and could tell the differences?
Some ideas:
- Stubby 8'2": skin a bit weak, more front rocker for polyvalence, narrower (29") but still very stable
- NFA Pro 8 : too rigid? Lighter? too wide (76 cm), flatter in nose?, more nose riding
Which one turned better? better glide in soft waves?
Cheers.
I didn't test the Stubby, but the NFA 8'0", and I made my daughter buy one.
What I can tell you:
- It is still in the Gong line, even after all these years
- If stiffness bothers you the carbon-less FSP2x construction is more flexible and a bit heavier, maybe better in chop.
- the somewhat pulled-in nose makes the board paddles surprisingly well for its length compared to wide or square noses (same as for the Mob)
- semi-pulled-in nose and tail plus a comfy main width gives curve to the outline, giving it nimbleness and smooth rail to rail
- the convex tail gives a smooth and fluid ride, compared with the swallow of the Mob.
- the rocker is moderately flat. The Zero is flatter, the Mob is higher. The front rocker is flat enough for noseriding, but not too extreme, and combined with the tail rocker, makes it easy to avoid pearling.
- the 2+1 setup is quite fun, as you can ride it single, 2+1, thruster, or even twin with pulled back keels
- it aims for the total do-it-all board for small to medium conditions. In the same concept, the Zero 8'5" can tackle more powerful conditions, and the Mob better for a more aggressive, pumping style in small waves.
