Smik 8'10 short mac 2.0 love to hear if anyone has one and how they perform

I have no idea of how the board would perform, as it depends on a lot of things (rail shape, rocker,...) we do not see here, but the outline is perfect in my opinion!

Looks like a copy of a Riviera Whirling Dervish that Ryan Helm rides.

I found this review in SUP internationals latest issue.

Verdict: The Short Mac is a proper fun board - not in the marketing sense - but in the surfing sense. From 'should have been here earlier' to 'regional classic' conditions, the Short Mac is at home for the bigger rider or those that feel life is too short to be wobbling about. We loved the '17 version and from the design and construction to the blend of practical and performance, we are once again impressed. It's not a mush-groveller; the Short Mac hits the sweet spot for recreational conditions.

The Short Mac is built using a carbon sandwich construction like all their premium boards which gives a light, tough, responsive product and the bright, durable, paint job seals the deal. Performance: Practical is not a sexy word, but it's an important one when attributed to a SUP board. Common impediments to SUP surfing are the impracticality factors vs going prone. Transport, storage, portage, balance, surfability.Well, the practicalities of the Short Mac design start when you pick it up. It's short enough to open your front door with it in hand, light enough to sprint to the beach and stable enough for an easy paddle out to keep you on your feet for a couple of hours or more. These things are so important because they remove the chore factor and keep your sessions fresh. OK great, but how does the Short Mac surf? If you're looking to take out a national surf title or throw yourself over a ledge this probably wouldn't be your board. But for those that are into sup surfing for enhancing waist to head-plus surf, and where wave count, good turns, or just bombing down the line are required, the Short Mac is so much fun. It's an agile, light board that you can create speed with; it likes to climb and is happy holding a higher line unlike some fuller volume boards. Yes, there is a broad deck to work with but the Short Mac fits nicely into the wave and the generous tail lift keeps the front end clear for super late 'turn and burn' drops. Combine its performance with its complete inability to cause frustration between waves and there really isn't much we don't love about this board. thanks for the feedback gents its definitely an interesting board hopefully the weather improves sometime and I'll give it a demo i was actually looking at getting a flow or creek and the bloke in the shop showed me this board and said its another great option so many choices :)

My wife picked up one recently. Good amount of confident inspiring stability but still very easy for her to spin around. Not tried on wave but have Smik twinny and demo the spitfire which both great on waves so no reason to doubt it would be excellent. Worthy of a demo.

yes agree the SMIK Mac is nothing like the Riviera to be honest from what I've seen has a lot more rocker
the nose is a lot wider stub nose then it lots in the below picture great vid though...................

Rivera. RIP whirling dervish available 600 us dollars if you really want. Very short life expectancy to say the least. Not like SMIK sandwich, more like stale donuts!

Haven't tried the short Mac so cant comment but if nose time is what ya like and you want to go with
Smik Brand check out the 10' Style Lord comes in various widths .
This board is great performer of the tail and then take a walk up front for some sweet nose time.
Had mine for 2 months long live the new board Stoke.:)

Checked out the longboard 10's again today , looks n feels good.
Clearing out quiver to make room.
I like to use the full-length of a board ,just wondering about Short Mac as possible option sub 9'0 . Tried 8'10 Speeeed and was able to get front to back on it. So curious if anyone makes the most their Short Mac

Geezer froth alert! Scotty brought some boards to the US. Meeting him at Logan in Boston to grab the Short Mac Rainbow Camo Especiale!

Can't wait to get that bad boy and meet Scotty in person.

Will def report if we get some juice!

I have one of the first versions. For comparison I also have a 9'5 Spitfire, 10'0 Long mac and a custom longboard on the way.

I weight 100-105kg and to ride a 8'7 x 29.5 is a pretty small board for me. Its far more stable then you'd expect for it's size, quite thin rails for it's length and volume. Whilst I happily ride it in general Perth slop it's really well suited when theres a bit of pitch to the waves or some size.

It comes as a thruster but I love it as a quad, really flickable board with great drive for it's size and rocker. You can get to the nose of it if your really wanted to but I don't really think that's what it's for. Still long/stable enough to be able to move up the front of the board to accelerate onto waves.

Taking it to Ekas next week, cant wait!

Scotty travels half-way around the world and delivers my board to me at Logan in Boston. Looks amazing in person and it was a real pleasure to meet Scotty in the real world instead of cyberspace.

Got home at 1:30 am. Woke up early and Huey sent WAVES. Waist chest hollow off shore.
Short Mac Freo delivered the goods. Stable, paddles well, and the pulled in tail and nose, as opposed the the squarer Tomo style, makes for a loose free and easy turn initiation. The subtle channels were not stiff at all, but definitely worked a treat in the hollow offshores.

Carvomatic baby! Geezer snaps. Even the young lads on their short boards approved which is always a good sign.

Can't say enough about the quality of the sandwich build.
Rode it as a two plus one with the center fin all the way forward in the box. Fast and loose, but no sliding. At 70 sliding is swimming!

Gonna begin my obsessive fin experiments as I always do. 3 D quads would rock with the channels.

Looks good Biggie..... those numbers would work for me on a clean day..... I'll bring a Mr Big approved size from my quiver and we'll have to swap for a few waves

a side benefit of Scotty delivering the board that day:

I was stranded at the airport in Boston, with no way home after 40 hours of travel home from Thailand.
No one could pick me up and my board was rejected by all the bus companies.......

Suddenly, there was Mr. Big, with his truck, heading right by my house (100 miles away)

Balance training sesh on shore slop. Really stable. Recovered from some crazy lean angles. Secondary stability off the charts.

Finally had some decent waves. Warm water in the springsuit.
Installed some Gomez 3D dimpled fins and ran it as a quad.
Worked awesome with the soft shallow straight channels.
Liked the no cant no toe in the rears along with minimal toe in the fronts.

Western Maine Shelf Buoy 3.6 foot swell at 11 seconds. In the summer.
Short Mac Rainbow delivered the goods. RSP solved the chippy rails, Hexa Traction gave old feet some grip, fooled with fins again. Using a 6.25 3D center all the way forward with smaller sides from a Gomez 3D set.
Had so much fun for four days, trunks, glassy groundswell unheard of in Summer.
The Rescue Laddies came out and gave the Ancient Mariner some props.
That board is so cool where did you say it's from.

Fade, stall, walk around, or stand on the stomper.
