Just wondering what the general consensus is with twin setups. I have been running my creek as a twin for the last week. It seems pretty fun for now with the swell we have been getting.

I have been using my pcc7s with no little nub fin. I want to throw a nub in it but wondering if bigger sides makes a better match?

What are some opinions on setting up for it?

found the 94 s and a 2 rear worked good on my 8,10 flow .too slidey for me as as twin .lacked get up and go.

a little nub would be cool .or the smallest fin you have on the rear .

I was a big fan of making twinzers out of my old shape Allwave and my bigger Hobie RAW... they both worked great as a Twinzer.

I ran my 9'4 Creek as a Twinzer and was disappointed with the loss of "drive" out of turns.
It was fun and snapped quick turns, but had to be ridden differently IMO.

I have video of it from my hat cam.... complete with comments as I surfed it.
Never published it because it didn't seem needed.
May have to rethink that

The Creek Twinzer was a fun diversion but I like it much better as a thruster.

I completely agree with the lack of drive and power especially on slow waves. But found a few extra pumps or paddle strokes and it seemed fine.



Might just grab a small nubster fin and see what happens. The quick snappy turns have been fun.

I don't think there is a bad video from you creek. Upload them all!

Twin fins setups are great... but with boxes in the proper position.

Putting twins only in the front boxes of a tri/quad setup will be too forward and you will lack drive as others have said: The board will kind of stall at the end of turns instead of projecting forward. A small trailer or nubster can help then.

It will work quite well however in weak/fat conditions where you do not go too far back on the tail to avoid losing speed.

I was thinking of adding two boxes in the proper position for twins on my small wave board... A thruster/twin 5 boxes, a la Greg Griffin.

BTW, I recommend looking at Greg Griffin work on fin placement. A lot of interesting ideas:

I've built around 20 SUP and made 3 Twinzers round pin tail. Those 3 Twinzers remains in the Top 5 of the 20 SUP done. Twinzer set up is definitively not the same fins position as a thruster one and need some different board outline with a wide point close to the board center. Maybe this is why you do like the Creek Twinzer as a Thruster set up.
Can you publish what you have done or at least the picture of the overall of your board with fin boxes? Please SupTheCreek as a feedback of Twinzer research and development

Yea I had to stop looking as it made me want one! Looks like an awesome board.

I had a few goes on the smik twin ,the fins are a lot bigger than a 7 .try the 10,4 or 9,4 that came with your creek ..give that ago too
might be worth a crack.

I used the 8,10 creek in Maldives .worked well with 7 fronts and a 5 rear .in most conditions .putting a smaller fin in the rear ,sure does loosen it up ,and it never spun out .

the smik fins are set back further than the creek it seemed .you could alway get a acid

Hi Kami
Here is a short vid of my 9'4 Creek with 105 Sunova Fins in sidebites.... no center fin.
The 105's are larger than I usually run, but still lost the awesome 'drive" that my Creek normally has.

I'm sure colas is right about the sidebites being too far forward to be effective as a "Twin Fin"
Next time I'll add a small center and see how that changes things.

It is not the case in your board, but if you have quad boxes, you can try putting the trailer on one of the rear side boxes for an asymetrical setup. I tried once in small waves, trailer on my front size, and it was quite fun: low drag like a quad, but as loose a thruster, good drive on the bottom turns and loose on top turns.

Bert had shaped a side channel up the front fin on your Creek Sunova to sharpened the rail up the front fin. This channel is acting as the leading fin of the Twinzer when using as a Twinfin.
But the Twinfin or this casual Twinzer set up has to be in a more backward position than it is previously settled. Otherwise, it does happen like a board too loose without drive...

Yes the fin are a lot bigger (Mr or MrX size)... and they are much inside the rail too. I reckon your board might work better with a set of plug settled more inside the rail.
Therefore, on nice waves anything work

Have tried many fins and it prefers the MR Twins with the trailer

The bump is in the right place!

Surfed some solid chest high swell today with a little 85mm trailer fin.

Surfed awesome real loose and plenty of go with a decent wave. Still not quite as much drive as a bigger fin. But I'll be playing with this setup for a bit as its super fun.

Nice board! The front fins boxes seems perfectly placed for using twin fins...
