Lots of reviews and comments make me keen on the Nalu but is there a difference 10 6 or 10 65?
I surf SUP mostly on a Naish 2013 9 and 85 Hokua but also now interested in some variety.
The Nalu 10' 6" seems to fit for flat water, some surf and windsurfing .
Any recommendations on options please? I am 76 kg.
Many years ago Naish only had an 11'6" and a10'6".. The 10'6" was pretty tippy and maybe was designed for women and children as small version of the big 11'6".. A couple of years ago Naish redesigned the old 10'6" and they made it a bit more stable.. I'm guessing to avoid confusion between the two they called the new one a 10'6".5 .. It's been out a few years now and Naish have now for 2014 they have dropped the .5 or 1/2" as it was written on some boards.. It's an awesome do it all board.. I have about four friends with it.. I have one.. I reckon 'go for it'

Reckon it might well be a next purchase for me but I'm slightly put off by the 30 inches wide...... really looking for a 31 wide board. I'm just over 90kgs. Have a 30 inch wide small SUP and okay.....we are talking about a diff animal altogether...but I also have a 12 foot 31.5 SUP so reckon one that is in the middle maybe best eg 31 inches. Unless you can convince me otherwise![]()
@ 30" wide, she is plenty stable. Nearly every store would have one in demo. Go take one for a paddle in some choppy conditions, I think you'll find it easy. I'm 92-95kgs and have no troubles bring the kids, dog or windsurfing this board in all conditions. This board never ceases to amaze me at how versatile it is. Some people get confused when I refer to drawing lines, but the 10'6" draws the smoothest lines whether it be knee high to as big as your willing to ride. I always have one finned up and ready to ride with me.

I'm 95 kg and have no problem on the 30'' wide 10'6'' Nalu..
Maybe it's the wider nose and the long board shape that helps with stability..
You need to demo one and that will convince you otherwise.. ![]()

You are a featherweight......the 10'6 wouls be like absolute barge to you.....do they still make the Naish gun? That would be an adventure for a lighter person (not sure if DJ could even stand on it)
Nice vids - for me to demo it would involve travelling 200 miles and a flight! Scotland is not blessed with any dealers - you need to make yuor mind up online.

Sounds like the boards you already have are quite choice and suit your weight.......mayb you should just find some better waves........easy solution ![]()
Gizzie, thank you for your input and I agree that what I have would be hard to beat. I keep demoing all I can and so far these are the boards for me in surf.
However I like variety and thought an in between board may give me options as the 10 6 Nalu could for mostly flat water, windsurfing and on the odd day in suitable conditions surf.
It seems others on here already do this and it's what has inspired me to do likewise.
Yes I am well aware that some have a job to promote but their input is analyzed in my assessment and is of value in assessing what to demo.
Don't forget the naish nalu 11'4.......good mayb for you and your girl (or dog) to ride the same wave
Good flatwater. Good surf.
Hey guys!
Picked up a Nalu 10'6" a few weeks ago, loving it, new to SUP but nice to get back into longboarding. Suits me at around 90Kg and 6'1" Tall. Wife enjoys taking it on the flats too, so hit a home run! Shout out to guys at Cronulla SUP nice dudes.
I have had the Nalu 11.4 and just downsized to a 10.6 (2013-14 model) The 11.4 felt like a boat and is a big board but saying that is VERY versatile, Flatwater cruising, throwing a rug rat on the end and is still very stable. Decided to get the 10.6 in lew of rug rats I opted for a little more performance in the surf. Lets just say I am glad I did :) Leave the rug rats on the beach with the wife and 3 hours later I still have a smile...lets just say the wife is less impressed :P

I'm considering doing the same. Have the 11'4 & love it! Surfs fantastic. Thinking the 10'6 may be a bit better in the surf & take up less space. Have been told recently that one of my boards needs to go..... Enter Zeusmans evil scheme...... I bought the missus a 9'5" Alana GT a while back. Am now trying to convince her that the new 2014 10'6 Alana would be a perfect board for her to trade up to....... Rug rat will fit better on the front of 10'6, paddles better & straighter etc..... What do you guys think?
Good plan.. ![]()

Well I now have a 10' 6" Nalu on demo - thank you to DSS Newcastle.
so far it has passed 3 tests:
1. Fits in my car
2. As now no board bag with 2014 Naish it fits in my spare cover
3. Obviously least important of the 3 is that it seems fantastic to paddle on flat water
All I now need to do is find some suitable surf before having to return the board
Any recommendations for a windsurf rig, second hand if possible, I am thinking 5m max sail
Test number 4 ie in surf
Today was gusty NW wind and small but OK surf - the board performed like a much shorter board, turns were easy with no big board feel.
My normal boards are 8 5 and 9 Hokua and I think with the versatility of the 10 6 Nalu I might have to add it to my quiver.
Looking for advice on a second hand Windsurfing rig, if anyone has one for sale please contact me.
Congrats.
SHQ have a big second hand gear sale on this w/e..
They might put a few bits together and ship it to you.
