Hi All has any one got a Naish 11'6" gun. Whats it like on flat water? waves below1mtr ? I have an Idea in double overhead waves it will be great but I am interested in the bottom end of the scale windy flat days with little waves.
PSH GUN Iv'e read the reviews on these but no details how they go on the flat windy days or waves below 1 meter, the days when you just have to go for a paddle. Or even a down winder?
This should answer a few questions for you.. www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=52969&SearchTerms=Would,the,real,gun,please,stand,up

Hi,
The gun boards are really versatile. Both those boards will work great. I did purchase the Naish model because Harold Iggy is a legend in the shaping world. I have had that board in some substantial surf and it works insane and down winders are fun to. I have also had the dog on the front.

Essential Big Wave Board Rules;
Volume = Paddle Speed: PSH wins here
Flat Rocker = Paddle Speed: PSH wins again
More Nose Rocker = ability to take steeper drop (crucial in many big wave places in Hawaii); Naish Wins
Tail Rocker provides more maneuverability in the pocket, which you really aren't looking for from a gun... snappier turns... both seem to have similar tail rockers
Single Fins - if you want to go really fast in a straight line, go for a single fin. The sides fins are just adding drag if you are trying to either make it to the bottom of a big wave, or to outrun it.... but if the wave allows any options to turn, the thruster set-ups enter their own realm....
Don't under estimate the Naish Gun in the big stuff!
Looking at the both, I would say;
PSH - for cruising, heavier person, with good cross over to small and big waves, probably a better performer on the big wall waves of the surf coast. Good down winder options. I would also suggest that is a good all rounder, but master of none. Perhaps the perfect choice for a 1 board quiver, or 1 board family.
Naish Gun - a more dedicated big wave gun, for a slightly smaller surfer, say 70-85kg.
If I paddling to a big heavy outer reef, I would take the Naish. If it was big point break walls, I'd probably still take the Naish. Anything else, I take the PSH. I'm about 90kg.
