Thinking on getting a reasonably priced board for flat water lake & ocean paddling.
The NSP 12'6" coco mat looks a good board for the price & I wondered if anyone had tried one out?

I've spent a few hours paddling the standard build 12'6" board in flat water, the only thing I found was that it was a bit heavy, the coco mat would be heaps better.

82 kegs when wet, I'd like a long board good for lake and downwind paddling. The NSP coco mats seem to be really good value

From my experiance with this board you are the perfect weight for it. Its a board that wobbles a tad in rough conditions but takes a lot to tip you off. Ive had one out in very shltty cross chop and the board just ploughs on no problem. The mild tippiness of the board is easy to get used to and as soon as you tell yourself to relax and not react to the little wobbles you will know you just cant fall off it no matter how hard you try.
It paddles fast and straight in the flat and is waaaay nicer to paddle with a big dolphin fin in it or a hatchet kinda setup....... imo the standard fin is a pain in the ars and too easy to damage and even though its one of those special kinda downwind/offshore fins the board is much easier to handle and way more predictable with a more standard large fin.

Not the 12'6" Coco but I really liked the 14' Coco.

Thanks for that DJ, will def try the 14' board now.

How do you think it would go on one of your downwinders? As good as your Jav?
