The 10'0 has been updated for 2013, there is also a 9'8 x 32 and 9'2 x 29 1/2 added to the range.
The weight of the Coco will blow your mind.
Oops sorry - I assume from the red thingy on my comment that this thread was one of those brand promo threads that nobody was supposed to disagree with ! My mistake - I must pay more attention to whats a genuine question and whats a genuine advertisement - hard to pick sometimes ??
Not if you hang around this forum regularly. Most people that have brand affiliations declare them upfront and even if they don't it's usually not to hard to work out after a few posts. If your not sure, just ask them politely straight up and I'm sure they'll respond.
Its such a shame though that the majority of positive posts are driven by those with commercial interests or people in some way aligned with others with commercial interests - ON THE OTHER HAND - the negative stuff about boards and brands rarely gets raised for fear of ridicule or retribution.
Ive been an avid reader of this forum and see a whole lot of commercially biaised comments/ posts made and in many cases downrite lies told by people that should have more integrity. I do not work in the industry but have many friends and family who do - I think its time some truths were finally told !!!!!
I understand what your saying and agree this does sometimes occur. My main concern is that we have a lot of extremely knowledgeable people with links to industry who are happy to share their knowledge on this forum and if we try and discourage them from posting I think it would be a big loss.
I think it's better to try and weed out the "rouges" with pointed questions and good debate, like your point about weight.
(not suggesting CMC is a rouge either)
Im not having a crack at you cmc - just stating facts as I see them.
I am sure some consumers appreciate the input from the industry (shapers/retailers/team riders etc) but it's refreshing to get input from the everyday mums n dads n average retail paying punters who just like ( or hate) their boards and hearing why they feel the way they do about their sups.
Its particularly hard to place a lot of stock also in what industry related people say because they change their thoughts and stoke every 3 months, based on their commercial allegiance to a brand.
I ride the boards I ride because they fit into my budget and I like them - rather simplistic, but it works for me.
And just back on topic for a second - I know a coupla people who own 10ft nsp sups and they love them. They are both under 80kg and competent paddlers with a surfing background.
all i asked was for honest opions. if you have other issues, take them elsewhere. i just wanted to know about there boards,so to anyone wanting to talk about other issues, take your chat elsewhere.
as a first time contributor, long time reader and the owner of a 2013 NSP 9'2 coco.i hope my review of this board helps even know its not a 10fter.ive surfed this board from brunswick bar to the goldy points and beachies and this board is absolutely amazing to surf.its super lite(not corky) which makes it fast down the line and quick off the top. the thing i was worried about was the glide being a 9'2 and myself weighing 98kg but after the first couple of surfs its not a problem at all.the reason i purchased this board was mainly the shape, weight and also that the bottom profile which is not much different to my normal short boards. the durability is something that time (and my kids) will tell.the look of the coco mat is something that worried me when i ordered it but looks way better in real life.never been into the whole brand bull**** just the look and feel of a board. my last board was a mcT after i was watching Ray Gleave surf one at kingy bowls club.he was tearing the arse out of the place.way more happier with my new coco.hope this helps![]()
^ sounds like you got hold of one of these very early to do that amount of surfing on it, do you have any affiliation with NSP purchos ?
^^
You guys are on a campaign for transparency right? You won't get that many places around here I assure you.
My role at NSP is to manage all distributors globally and work on product development for the brand overall. For example, I designed the 9'2 and 9'8 and I also signed Dale Chapman to shape for the brand. In short I spend 1/2 of my life in Thailand at a big factory working on the small details. I spend a lot of time in shaping bays, working with graphic designers etc. Kind of a fun job really.
I do not sell boards in Australia. I work in partnership with our distributor here and also other distributors globally.
In development of the new boards I made prototypes and brought them back to the Goldy. I rode the crap out of them in as many kinds of waves as possible, I also got as many other surfers of varying abilities to ride them and to give me constructive criticism.
Purchos was one of the guys who rode the prototype, he loved it. He was also testing a lot of other boards as he wanted to go down near the 9' mark. He knew the new board was coming and when it arrived he spoke to Jamie and paid for one. He's not sponsored in any way. He did have a heads up on its arrival though, so did many here though also. Some of the other testers have also told me they want one.
I'm stoked he loves the board and even more that he felt compelled to write about it. He had a lot of choices of boards to buy. Before you make assumptions, no I did not ask him to write it, I'm happy he likes it enough.
So there you have it, transparency. As I said I'm the guy who runs the brand globally, if you have any more questions feel free to PM me and I'll try to get back to you.
Thanks for listening and apologies to the OP for his thread turning into the Spanish (TAS) enquisition.
saw and picked up the 9 ft 2" in Viddlers shop and bloody hell its light, VERY LIGHT prob lighter than my WP 9 ft 5
Any more reviews out there, looks like it has a bit of rocker in it as well but not too much detail on the website, any one got one to try in Perth ???
Was chatting to a dealer the other day who had been riding the 9ft 2' and was loving it, he said he had only had it out in 5ft ish up to now but so far so good, it seems to be about the same weight as my SB 9ft 5" WP carbon. The downwind cruiser version looked quite nice as well and at $1,500 I guess its a bargain compared to the competition out there.
CMC, yes you have told us how the 9ft 2in performs, please advise on the performance of the 10ft x 291/2 nsp cocoa fibre,
Hi,
I know this is an old topic, but I'm looking for info and reviews of the 9'8 Coco and not finding much on-line? Looking at one as an all-round board, with strong emphasis on wave-riding abiility.
thanks
