Howdy Crew,
Any feedback on the Flash in any sizes that I might be able to relate to my requirements?
It looks like a performance orientated allrounder and I'm seriously looking at the 7.6 x 26.
I've never ridden a Sunova,and while a little longer than most my boards the lower volume appeals to me as I'm a lightweight.
I' m currently on the Starby Pro 7.4 x 25 and the JP Pro 7.4.x 27
The JP is my go to board for all conditions but too wide and too much volume 90l vs 77 for the Flash.

a bit off topic but N.Z. distributor here - i have a 7'11" speed and a 7'10" acid ridden twice ,mint cond $1400 ea - i'm sure we can get them to oz relatively easily near xmas with mates..just a random shot..tnx

James developed the FLASH to be be more versatile than FLOW . BobbyR If you have a look at the dimensions of the FLOW it carries the similar width and thickness through the board as the JP Pro. The FLASH has been refined to be
1. More responsive off the tail
2. Full domes deck with lower rails to sit tighter in the pocket
3. Performance rocker that will also carry you through the flat sections.

As James himself describes it "The FLASH has a much more pulled in nose and tail than the FLOW. It is basically a cross between the Acid and the Flow, borrowing the sound predictability of the FLOW with the rippability of the ACID". James added "More spring off the top, holds speed better and just a better all round high performance board. I'd use the flash for 90% of conditions".

There are a few Flash's out on the water so we should get some feedback soon. I interview James Casey next week about his new board, which I will post here. In the mean time...

It is a good looking board and the 7.6 is on my Christmas list,even it I have to buy it myself

I'm 6'2" and 90kg . I've been riding a Deep 8'10" x 29" @ 124L for the past three years and have a bad lower back that is aggravated when surfing.

I wasn't really in the market for a new SUP but tried a friends 8'7" Flow and was very impressed with the extra stability and turning performance. It turned very nicely on the wave and was easy to ride from the middle of the board making it easy to trim on a face. It also turned easily on my backhand which is something I struggle with my current board. My only criticism of the Flow was it felt hard to maintain speed on a face.

Sold on the extra stability with turning performance I had more or less decided to get a Flow, but then Sunova launched the Flash, and after discussing it in the shop I ended up buying an 8'9" Flash. Jump forward three month (three weeks ago), I collect my new board an 8'9" x 30" @122L Flash.

Due to aforementioned bad back and work commitments, I have not managed to get out until now, but desperate to get in the water, I managed a very quick surf yesterday before work. I took the old board out paddled around for 10 minutes and caught a couple of waves before coming in, grabbing the new board and doing the same. I thought that this would be the best way to do a direct comparison, so here are my initial thoughts.

Feels very stable when paddling. It has a rolled deck with very refined rails. This means the rails are usually under the water when paddling and combined with the extra width (30" wide for the 8'9") means this feels very stable out back.

I only managed a couple of waves, one on the forehand and one on the backhand before coming in but my initial impressions are that it's very lively and can be ridden from the middle of the board just like the Flow but unlike the Flow is blisteringly fast. I was caught out as I trimmed on a bit of a wall and nearly fell of the back as I wasn't really prepared for the acceleration.

I'm really looking forward to getting this out some more, but initial impressions are that this could be future classic. Definitely worth considering if you are a thinking of the Flow.

Will post more when I've spent a bit more time on it.

Hey mate ..at present have 2 Sunova - the 8'5 Speeed and the 8'7 Acid at 106L. Im around 95kgs. The Fkash looks awesome and combines the best of both boards and the flow. Given that I ride the 8'7 as my everyday board..and in the future im looking at getting a Flash..what size would ypu recommend..im thinking the 8'3 -102.5L io think it is..shorter than my acid which appeals to me..
