i am in Sanur and Janke has for sale a 9ft7" Jimmy Lewis ... has great lines and he tells me it is a great board for the conditions in Bali ... i prefer a bigger board as i weigh over 95kg it is 31 wide and 136 L ... has anyone ridden JL boards and/or a 9ft7 how do they compare and does it handle a decent size wave ...?

I have a 8'7" Kwad. I ride it in any thing from knee to head high. It handles very well and is very well made.
I know a few people also have them at Margret River (much bigger than Perth swells).

When I was in Bali I tried the Stun Gun 8'2" and found it quite a but faster and easier to turn, though the quality of the wave had a lot to do with it.

It's worth while looking up some comparisons on sea breeze to get an idea of what people are saying but in my opinion its a great quality board.

Before you buy…., did you know JL has just released a knew carbon line of SUPs?

I have a 8'7" Stun Gun and weigh in at 87kgs (with wetsuit would be at least 90kgs) so float shouldn't be an issue for you. As for decent size, I've had it in double overhead with no issues (apart from taking a few on the head addling out). The board shape with thinner rails and pulled in tail is well suited to be able to turn at speed and I use GL thruster fins with the centre fin as far back as it will go on the bigger days. I ended up going JL and the Stun Gun after watch a bloke over 100kgs having a ball in some decent size (he was on 9'7") - after chatting to him I went down and demoed a board from Wayne and put my order in. For really big surf JL do the Bombora and Son of Bombora as big wave guns.

Jimmy Lewis boards would have to be some of the best on the market IMO, can't fault the construction or shapes, i've had a stun gun for over 2 years and love it, i've just order a "super tech" which will be 3rd Jimmy Lewis board i own as i can't bear to part with a the other 2

110kg ride the 9 2 stungun IMHO is the best board in small to medium(2xOH) waves around for big boned gentlemen.

Best construction with out a doubt.

Love my 8'11" JL Striker ..... best all round board I've owned and I've been through 5 so far. The dimensions on that board you're looking at should provide ample float and stability for you. If the price is reasonable I reckon you should go for it.
