Hello friends,
finally I got 2 days in decent waves after returning to my trip to WA.
Sanur Blue Reef is been firing left and rights for the last 2 days.
Waves about head to just over head high but with absolutely no wind and great shape.
The 9'0 is definitely smaller then the 9'4 and at my 72 kilos (got some extra weight down under!) is not that easy to stand on it and need a bit to get used.
I was very relax on the 9'4 that floated me very well.
The volume is 110 Liters and is just enough and took me some time to master it as the sweet spot where you have to stand is smaller.
Gliding in flat water is fine.
The 1 km paddle to the reef is all done standing and without major problems.
My friend that is on a much bigger board is of course going faster.
Catching the waves is more challenging then the 9'4 but not that harder and taking of in the critical section is easier. I had some very late drop in that I thought I would have been crash but I actually made it.
Once on the wave face the board is so responsive and fast that is pure joy to ride.
I was able to make some of the sections of the waves that normally I couldn't make it as I normally I would not have enough speed.
The acceleration on the 9'0 is brutal and you are screaming down the line.
This is board that is design for pure performance and challenging waves.
I'm really happy about it.
Bye Jankie
