Just after some un biased information on what they go like as an open ocean Down Winder. Laceys Lane you tell it like it is and have owned and rode everything, Yours and anyones thoughts would be appreciated cheers.
mate i haven't even seen one in real life. it does look a good dw board, but so do a lot of others.
however one thing dj and myself agree on is a planning type nose for the full joy of dw ing.
note- we do disagree over a quite a few things
its a matter of finding the ones that will hold a line you want yet still be surf-able ie turn when you want it to, and good glide and speed and decent stability/platform.
fighting to stay on a board in the rough just robs you of energy

Yep - these look nice but there pretty wide at 28...the latest in these style of boards seem to be around 26...from what i saw in Maui.
Thanks guys for the responses it is for a mate over 50 so a bit of width will help him starting out DW he paddled my glide and went ok so now he is looking at boards
I've got a m14, at 28" wide its super stable and surf really well! It won't be the fastest board in a flat water race, but thats not what is designed for. I think its a real fun dw board, less time and energy wasted on balancing.
Another classic Jimmy Lewis board. Ive ridden the quad, blade,slice, sabre 14, and I own the m14.Its not a race board but does ok if your not running in the first 10 or 15 first places every race. But it downwinds superbly, stable, well built. Ive never had a problem with any jimmy lewis board ive had.It does slap a bit paddling into the wind, but then you dont paddle into the wind for a long time anyway. Well I dont.For just out for a cruise its great. It has some nice glide . May sound like im a little jimmy bias, but I just think his boards are up there with some of the better brands of boards. I actually surf a fanatic.
Summary. I chose this board so I could go in a race without coming last, so I can have a lot of fun downwinding, which is what its made for. To have a stable board no matter how much the water is moving around, to have a cruise paddle without pushing a bardge through the water, and to not worry about it falling apart.
Ticked a lot of boxes for me. JMTCW
I have one and as well as all the other comments I was surprised how well you can surf it. Had it out in little waist high waves and it glides and turns so nice for a 14' er
