We'll. 10 months on and I thought I would post a follow up review. Much is said and questioned about boards. Stability, paddle ability. How do they turn. Perform in flat/ surf. How does the deck hold up, indent, handle punishment etc etc etc.
I have now had this board for 10 months. Use it nearly every weekend, 2 weeks in Merimbula, twice a day and I am not easy on equipment. 53 yo old, 83kg and 5 10.
The JP has been with me in 6" to today's head to head 1/2 high clean face juice balls. Mush, chop, on shore off shore. One thing sums it up no regrets! On my demo it felt right for me and continues to do so. The thing rocks and I have learnt heaps from this board. Still have a long way to go before I am ready for the next step.
Yes the artwork has paddle marks on it. I added a 5th fin mount that I use with a nubster and it just works. Oke has done a few touch ups for me after the odd meeting with mrs reef. Yet it is a superbly designed and sublime performing board. As an intermediate step, you have to consider this stick.
JP and the design crew. I said it last May and say it again now. I dip my lid to you. Great piece of work! It was an investment well spent that continues to give, week in week out! 
I have the wood gloss version and have sold all my other boards.......I agree that these boards are just so much fun and handle a lot of conditions well. They have that fish like performance but are predictable and forgiving. This board has really brought my sup surfing on a lot. Big fan of this design.
Good to see follow ups on reviews... sometimes the shine comes off after the initial date. Glad to hear that you still feel the same after a few seasons.
I have the 2013 (9' 1") Surf version, not wide bodied. I learnt to SUP surf on it and it is still with me today as my surfing improves towards and past intermediate level. The board is good in a wide variety of conditions and is great in clean head high waves. The only drawback i've found is that it is a tad heavy. Obviously, the pro version is much better but would I be blown around a lot more when the wind gets up a bit. Although I thought about buying the wide bodied version I am very happy with my choice to date. NOw I'm familiar with this board I'm not sure where to go boardwise from here. Thoughts?
This hard sounds ideal for me. I'm 75 kg.
Has anyone tried it with a sail on it in the waves?

That's just what I was thinking ..... wouldn't mind learning to windsurf and the JP wide 8'8 might fill the double bill of sup and windsurfer. Would this board be a good one to learn windsurfing on though? Had a go on it supping and it was a lot of fun. Very stable and super responsive in small waves. Sounds like it goes well in bigger waves too.

The 8"8' is 136 liters. It would be great to learn to windsurf on provided you are under 75kg.
However I would suggest you get three lessons on a 150litre board and then jump on the 8"8'.

Ooops, that's "buy" a pocket rocket, not "but" one. Why do they put the t so close to the y on a keyboard?
