A question for Sunova board owners .
Today i noticed that I marked the top of my board. Most likely from the paddle (but not certain) when either falling or jumping through a wave (note my paddle blade is covered with electrical tape) . I have these sort of marks on my other Speeed as well. Sometimes they are like a glass shatter or like a paper cut.There is no indentation or pressure point but I can feel the edge of the "paper cut" . About 3 cm in length . In the past I have just ignored or put a bit of rail or ding tape (as a precautionary measure)

What do others do ?

Honestly i have few on my speed and even more on the sunova longboard and never bothered to do anything as long as i can feel under the finger its only a scratch...Hope i was not wrong !

Probably just a glass shatter, but slide your finger nail over it to see if you have cracked the glass. If it is rough or has an edge you may have cracked the top layer of glass. But even if it is rough, it may just be some glass fibre and not cracked through. Give it a very light sand. What I mean by light is one pass lightly. See if it is rough after thatand bit of sun cure would seal it. Hey, a sticker to 'custom' your board always works too.

It is like a paper cut rather than a thin scratch. As anchorpoint mentioned I have these on other sunova boards as well. They don't seem to be a long term issue but I am no expert.
The good thing is no indentation or discoloration .
However if putting some ding tape or sticker on top adds a level of extra strength maybe ethane the way to go . No point in a full in repair .....I would be getting repairs done monthly as this issue is common

I beat the crap out of my boards with my paddle.
The nose on all my boards have Hexatraction (actually FUNKtion Hex ) because I always walk forward of the pad on all boards.
If no "Hex", then I wax the entire nose.
It keeps my paddle whacks in the "nuisance" category

Yours looks superficial, so no worries..... but like you say, a sticker or traction will cover it if you feel the need.

Hard to even see the Hex traction on any of my boards.... this pic shows it a bit.

definitely a scratch .. i definitely ignore them ;) . you have to go pretty hard to make a crack thru to the wood and there is another layer of glass under the wood. if it is acrack the 2 sides of the crack will move independantly ..

Agreed, nothing to worry about, you could sand back with wet 1200grit to get rid of most of the scratch if you really wanted - the whitened glass would still be visible though. You can ignore all these type of marks unless you see the balsa darken which means its getting wet.

Nothing to worry about there ...sheet you should see my boards after i'm finished with them ...but they still keep going ..

I have no affiliation with sunova other than owning 3 of their board's. I continue to be amazed with their robustness.
