I recently found the ideal board for my skill level, height, weight, etc...the Fanatic Fly 14 x 28 (the open water version, not the flatwater racer). My local shop, which sponsors not only a real race team, but also supports a group of up and comers in class they call Paddle Academy, helped get me onto this board. My shop is pretty much the only shop here on the southeast coast of Florida that sells the Fanatic brand. I love this board. I went from a newbie on an all around NSP 10.2 to a 12.6 Riviera Missle, to this board. The first board taught me to basically paddle and learn that I needed a longer board. The Missle taught me that I was too big for a light 12.6, but it taught me everything about balance. Now that I am on the 14, everything is clicking and I have shaved 2.5 minutes off of my mile average in only two weeks on it. Anyway, since I see that the Fanatics seem to be HUGE in Australia, I was wondering what types of fins that folks over there prefer on this board. Currently, I am running the stock fin that came on the board and I am quite happy with performance, but see many boards around here are using the Gladiator Hybrid fins, the Ninja fins, or the Batwings. Here in south Florida, we don't have any kelp or weed problems other than the occasional bit of grass or vine that might be in some of the backwater canals. Our races are mainly in bays, or off the beach, so we deal with some small chop, boat wakes, and if off shore, 2-3 foot side swells. So far this board has handled it all very well. It may be a bit sluggish in flat water conditions compared to flatwater racers, but I am fine with that as I prefer to stay ON the board when off the beach or in a choppy bay while many of the flatwater board riders are going for swims! I'm doing a conversion here, so I hope it's correct...I am 95 kg and I stand 187 cm tall, if that matters at all. So, any advice on different fins, or even just what you prefer on your boards would be great! Thanks!
I like the Danny Ching FCS 9 inch as a great all round race fin. Works well on the Fanatic too.
check out the futures sup fin range, it has plenty of options! I just got a couple and am very happy with them!

The big California Classic Fin would be good for fun small waves on your race board... Try 9" or 9"1/2. Even 10. 10" might feel too similar to the stock fin.http://trueames.com/shop/california-classic

Several good things about True Ames Fins, including a good range and colour selection. Does colour make it go faster..? 
In flat water, the biggest difference you will notice is tracking. You will be able to count strokes and judge which fin tracks better.
Is the standard fin the keel looking offshore one or the fanatic dolphin type race fin ?
If you have the dolphin type then save your $ and keep on with that for a while cos they are an excellent allround fin for cruising, surfing and going quick in open and flatwater.
I do really love Futures fins both for surfing and SUP.
I'd go with a Futures Triangle Cutaway for DW, touring and racing and if you can own two fins i think the Futures Byron Kurt is a good fin for BOP style races since it'll be easier to turn on a wave.
The Futures Keel and Race fins are good options too.
