Hi, wondering if anyone can suggest a good SUP for me. 5'8'', 54 kgs, want to go in river and eventually some small waves. Prefer a light weight board so easy to carry and travel with. Thanks!

IMO something in the 10'-10'6 allround ranges would probably suit you for those uses - here are a just few worth looking at, for cruising and first waves:

10'6 Naish Nalu
10'6 Sunny King
10' or 10'6 Fanatic Fly
10'8 JP Lady
10'5 Starboard Drive

I'd say anything below 10' would cruise less well for you on flat water, and boards over 11' would probably be unwieldy for you when you venture into some waves and at your size you'd probably be struggling to reach out comfortably over boards wider than 30".

Best to demo as many as you can, choose what feels best to you.

You may want to consider inflatables.
They do not fear hits on trees, rocks, etc... in rivers.
They are easy to travel with
Modern ones can surf suprisingly well for learning to surf

Starboard has some fantastic ones coming out for 2015.
