Yup. Got One.
Firstly, I'm new to sup, have surfed for over 40 years, mainly longboards for the last 10. I wanted a board that surfed like a longboard, so after trialling a lot of boards, chose the Laird, because of the thinned down rails, it's shape and if I'm truthfull, the way it looked.
Once I got past the getting going and got some waves, oohhee, it's a great board! I have surfed it as a single fin in 1 footers and got to the nose and have surfed it as a quad in shoulder high waves and it rips. The only problem I have, is that the board is better than me!
I'm 5'9" and about 74kg, but I would suggest a bigger body would have no problems. Being a surftech product, make sure you get rail tape, as the paint finish does chip. But I have had a few surftech boards and the trade value is really high and the chips are easily repaired. I also used Nuwax stick-ons for the nose.
Hope that helps, but I am biased!

If i was going to buy a Laird it would be the 12'1 I suspect.....the 10'6 looks good too but the longer one looks to be a keeper....and lots of stylee boards around in the 10' range (but what would I know....have never even set eyes on one lol)

Hey Snapper13,
I haven't got experience with the board but wish I did as the tail looks fantastic in the flesh. If you are on the Goldy or can get here easily I think Justin at Jamie Mitchells store at Palmy has a couple of the big one's on their rack they park at the Alley. I assume they are for teaching and hire. I have been meaning to pop in as I have always wanted to see how they go. Failing that you could ask the Dogman when the surftech circus is coming your way.

I have been riding it as a single fin (9" fatboy) in small surf. Good bite when you go forward and nice glide. Quad when a bit of size.
Enjoy

I spent a couple of hours on a rental 12'1 last week, in a mix of flat, chop and a few fat knee-thigh high waves. I thought it was bloody great, stable, super easy cruising and surfed nice. I'm not you though, I'm 189cm and somewhere around 125.

I had one for 18 months and loved it. Surfed waves beautifully and was big enough to do a paddle up the creek on. The tail of the board sits in the face beautifully on the waves
